Thought we would try this for dinner. Went past the Bain Marie and ordered our meals (not liking the idea of food sitting out there for so long)We had beef made with plum sauce, vegetarian rice and Mongolian lambThe beef and rice were extremely good. The lamb not so much. The fortune cookies were a nice touch.The self serve Bain Marie food looked better than expected. Pricing is per container with small at 9.50 and the largest at 16.50 (unsure of sizes between). The variety looked great and I feel I have done myself a dis-service. The goodFood was nice, fresh, great service. (We were even waiting in our car and without asking they brought it out to usThe badNothing really to complain about here The ugly The floor !!! It was so incredibly slippery - an accident just waiting to happen. It was not wet but rather greasy insteadThe verdict - would I go again?For sure but I would get there about 5 when the Bain Marie food is the freshest and try this instead as I like the idea of mixture

Came here on a weekend for lunch, the place was a little busy but still had plenty of free tables. The staff were friendly and helped me choose a vegetarian suitable dish. While I seated and waited for my take out meal the staff brought me over a cold glass of water. Wait time was good, I was expecting a little longer wait for the amount but of people that were dinning. Had a good experience and will return. I love all Asian styles of cooking and have tried every restaurant/takeaway in Mackay at one time or another. Have had some favourites that have changed hands and not been as good afterwards. The Aussie Hot Takeaway, pleasantly bucks that trend.I had been to this takeaway some years ago and had enjoyed the food, although the menu was limited at that time.Recently this place has come under new management. What a difference. The menu is much expanded.I have made two trips in the last week to have their Combination Fried Rice and the Pan-fried Dumplings. They are so delicious.It's a 9 1/2 km trip each way for us to go there and there are two Chinese Restaurant/Takeaways that are closer, but this place is hands down the best in Mackay for quality.

Sadly I was really disappointed with my meal from Chow In. A Menulog order to my motel and while the price was good and the delivery time not too bad, the meal itself was really poor and the bulk of it went in the bin.The Spring Rolls were literally dropping in oil and the main meal completely lacked any flavour whatsoever.Perhaps some meals are done better than others, but that particular night was not my lucky one.

I went with friends while passing through Mackay. The entree's, spring rolls and prawns were good. We also ordered chicken and corn soup. It was very watery. Mains were combination fried rice which was great; Singapore noodles good just a little spicier than I'm used to; and combination noodles. Very generous serves, good service and clean restaurant.

We were keen for a tasty seafood lunch and were very happy with our choices at the Coral Sea Phoenix Seafood Restaurant. The service was good, the surroundings were pleasant, and our meals were lovely with nice sauces, plenty of seafood, and plenty of fresh vegetables. There were other non-seafood options however what we ordered was just what we felt like - delicious and filling.

Love this buffet - so much to choose from and great value. The staff are very friendly and the food is delicious - so much choice (even if you don't like Asian food) even has a desert bar. The wonton soup is amazing.

We have had take away from Golden Sun before & always said we should dine in one night & so glad we did tonight. What is great about this place?Equal first is the food & service. Our waiters Amy & Helene had both obviously had plenty of experience & could answer every question & checked in on us regularly. When one of my kids ordered a drink they didnât have, they offered to go to the corner shop to buy it for him.As for the food, we got the All you can eat with 2 kids eating free. We had all the entrees & 4 mains. 2 of our mains were only half finished & they offered dessert & doggy bags for our left overs. Wow! As for the quality, we found that the meat was the star on the dish, if they said king prawns were in the dish, you didnât just get your token 4, there were heaps. Sizzling Mongolian lamb did just that & tasted amazing with freshly cooked veggies. The duck in plum sauce was cooked to perfection. I truly canât believe people are choosing to dine in at places in town, when this prefect little gem is offering BYO, all you can eat, kids under free under 12 & the best service and food in town!We will be back soon!

Love coming to this large busy restaurant and never miss when visiting Mackay. The head lady is always on the ball checking things are going smoothly and welcoming everyone who enters. Nine of us shared a selection of dishes accompanied by fried and coconut rice. They were all consistently good. The salt and pepper prawns were amazing. And the chicken pad Thai likewise. Mongolian lamb is always a hit. The diversity of flavours was great. The coconut rice was also a good surprise. The meals came to $27 each. A cheap night for the quality of food.
