We had heard about Lillyâs from a previous trip but had been unable to fit it into our itinerary! Big mistake!!!The restaurant is extremely relaxing very flexible and the food is outstanding! Do try the pre meal madeira wine - dry - it is a delight. We had the calamari, octopus for starters and the filet with mushrooms and RV for mains. Each were superb and the Alvarihno wine with it made our day! I was in an organised group mountain bike ride and we stopped here for a mid-ride lunch. The filled 'sandwich' of the local round bread was delicious and good value.At the top of the road is a view point with magnificent views over towards Porto da Cruz.

This restaurant is in the Hotel Albatroz and not far from Santa Cruz and the airport.The meat is superb - veal or beef fillet of the highest quality.Octopus carapaccio is wonderful.See if they have the hot passion fruit souffle which is light and fluffy.

Lovely table looking out over the water watching fishing boats coming in and out of the harbor.We had Maderia style steaks with a lovely salad.Very nicely presented and the owner very attentive to all customers.Other customers were having mussels and other fish dishes which all looked good.

Village is a very cosy cafe located right in the heart of the city. Here you can enjoy the great coffee accompanied with a delicious homemade cake. If you are a bit more hungry, you also can try the lovely 'prego no bolo do caco' or a 'picado', both tradicional dishes of the island, its super tasty. The place has indoor and outdoor sitting, a very good atmosphere and super friendly staff. Totally worth a try
