We, family of 4 with 2 kids aged 10 and 7, stumbled upon this restaraunt through a Sunflowe walking guide to Madeira. We were not disappointed; unbelievable value for well cooked, simple and fresh food. We adults had the scabbard fish and squid; it was excellent. Good choice for kids and fact that some items not available shows how fresh food is. All homemade and desserts particuarly delicious! Try it!

The menu was quite basic but food was tasty and portions of a good size. Some items lost in translation a little on the menu perhaps?! My husband ordered the âsteak sandwich on a plateâ and got steak, egg and chips (on a plate!) Prices were very reasonable and location next to the church pleasant. Only one waiter serving, so service was rather slow.

Ate here 3 times during my stay, 2 out of 3 times the food has been exceptional. Fresh tuna was delectable & today I had homemade soup, fresh bread.The owners are very receptive to feedback & eager to give the best service.Definitely worth a try

Went here on a recommendation.It was very busy for a Saturday mainly with locals.Don't mind waiting however we did eventually have to go inside and order drinks as we were quite thirsty.There is a menu in English which we only discovered when she came to take our order!!This then delayed ordering even longer! Had beautiful food though, good portion sizes half a litre of sangria, sommersby cider large bottle of water. 3 main course large bread, and alcohol 30 euros 50 cents

Best meal we had in Portugal! The place has a cosy neighbourhood feeling to it. The service was quick and attentive. The food was fresh and delicious. We started with fish soup and garlic buttered bread, then we had two types of fish from 'catch of the day' selection accompanied with buttered boiled potatoes and fresh salad, and we finished with servings of apple pie and passion fruit pie for desert. With the deserts we had complimentary shots of Madeira rum! A very pleasant experience!

The follow was regular and the waitresses were very kind.I was alone and when I payed I expected the invoice and the change. The bill came to the table but they assumed that they could keep the change. It was one euro change but yet it was my decision to leave it or pick it, not anyone else!It was an absolute abuse.Iâll never come back again and advise all my colleagues and friends to do the same!Ola, Peço as Minhas Desculpas de ter acontecido isto. Stopped by here by chance passing through Santa Cruz. We had a great meal, really reasonably priced, with swift and friendly service. The boys were happy with the food (and the free WiFi!) and my husband and I were very happy with the food, cleanliness and atmosphere. Added bonus of a complimentary glass of Madeira. I read reviews about this restaurant before I went to Madeira. I was impressed with the reviews so I visited this place last week. I had the octopus and I was not disappointed! The food here is beautiful. We caught the bus to it from Machico and had a cab back. Get your driver to give you the price first. This restaurant is exceptionally cheap, however the food is outstanding.

Lovely meal. We shared the Bruschetta for starters which comprised ham and tomatoes with mushrooms and parmesan shavings.For mains we had the mixed meat skewers, they were beef, chicken with pineapple with polenta and salad.For desert I had chocolate mouse with chocolate pieces, my wife had the mixed berry cheesecake.The meal was lovely, well worth a visit.
