The zum Kreuz is well located - a 10 minute drive from the main north-south (Gotthard) Autobahn in the Engelbergtal - and, in addition to a first class restaurant, offers itself for an overnight stay. The two, however, are qualitatively very different. The restaurant offers first class cuisine in an alpine ambiente with, at this time of year, the special lobster menu the star. Prices are reasonable and accompanied by a warm welcome (by the chef perposnally, his wife and staff) plus a more extensive than usual choice of (good) house wines also reasonably priced. It is understood that the feature menu changes with the seasons and fresh product availability.The overnight accommodation, by contrast, is rather basic - something that is not only reflected in the untouched 60's decor in the en suite bathrooms but also in the modest room prices (breakfast included). One word of advice for potential overnighters: announce your arrival time in advance to ensure there's someone to open the hotel door when yoou arrive. We were accompanied by our dog who was also made to feel very welcome.

Amazing food, and great Spanish ambience! We had some of the self-serve tapas, as well as the seafood fideua, (similar to a paella, but with short thin spaghetti like noodles.) Our server, Patricia, went above and beyond, patiently explaining our meal and wine in detail, creating a fantastic dining experience! (dhanyavaad Patricia :-) Aside from some unattended toddlers running around, which are not the fault of the restaurant, we had a wonderful time. Wow! First of all thank you very much for your stay with us. And as well thank you for your compliments for Patricia â she is very happy about your kind words. It was our pleasure to serve and host you. Very beautiful situated Italian Restaurant right by the lake! Awesome warm friendly hosts! Try sardinian specialties...Pizza Sarda with fresh Bottarga. A glass of Karmis from the Cabras Winery topped with a glass of Mirto.

Iâm from a city that is proud of its Italian heritage and its pizza (Chicago), so my standard is high. The pizza here is very good. Probably the best Naples style prosciutto credo that Iâve had. Service was very friendly and helpful. Very good menu selections.

The restaurant is located above the casino and it is decorated with classic grandeur with high ceilings and chandeliers. We went without reservations and were the first guests for dinner. We were later told by the staff there that the building used to be a library. The menu was very interesting and the wines had good choices. We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 mains and a bottle of French wine. The food is well plated and taste really fresh, delicious and definitely memorable (see the pictures). You have the feel that the chef takes pride in his creations.
