Reviewed By msek3101Really loved everything about the hotel; friendly staff, good service, great gym and awesome breakfast buffet (a must try). Staff really helped me with train schedules and booking of tickets (we were unfamiliar) and overall we give this place 5 stars and beyond.

Nice hotel, but the quality of sleep could be better

It would have been easier to sleep, if the room wasn't so hot (+24 °C) and if there wasn't Tuomiokirkko Cathedral playing its bells next to your window. A rich breakfast was pleasant, but it took too long to get a cup of coffee from the staff. Please, just buy a coffee machine if your service concept doesn't work.

Enjoyable stay in renovated Suite Salmon
Reviewed By Mikael FThe renovation of this centrally located legendary Oulu hotel is almost complete. The rooms have been refurbished in the ambiance of bright summer nights, the scent of tar, and the wild salmon. On the top 7th floor are two suites with saunas and large balconies overlooking the Rotuaari pedestrian street. In August 2018, we stayed in the same suite #709. Now only the balcony was the same. The interior has been completely revamped. The suite felt more spacious and had a very stylish decor. The other suite #710 has a bigger living room with a dining table for six. The suite was very well equipped. There was everything you could imagine to need starting from the sauna scent. Also, we have never seen such a modern Nespresso machine. In 2018, we paid exactly the same price 214 euros. It was a prepaid Summer Deal then. Now it was a Black Friday sale with flexible rates because of the COVID. My only complaint is the breakfast that was very average. It is served on the 3rd floor in a separate space. All egg dishes (boiled and scrambled) were finished. On departure, we noticed that they were replenished but that was too late for us.

Reviewed By 42Alexander42The receptionists with whom I had contact (three altoghether) were all very friendly (sincere heart-felt friendliness) and helpful with any request or question I came up with. The room (single on 5th floor) was a bit small, bit in relation to price paid still OK. A friend had booked a business room (price difference was not that high); this was spacious, nice in style and had a private sauna. Free coffee, tea and small pastries all day (self-made, not bought!).

good location but my room was in pretty bad condition needs renovation
Reviewed By valtteri0Room in poor condition needs facelift quickly. broken outlets, shower dripping, bathroom door bubbling from moisture, sewer not draining properly. No air conditioning super hot even in winter needed to open the window to cool the room. Stayed for a week for business use would not come back before major renovation. Price suggested that I would receive better quality room. Breakfast was good. Hard to catch sleep when you here everything from outside.

Reviewed By juhak2022The glass ceiling hut stay was very nice although there was on snow on the top pf the ceiling. The food was bad and did not match at all with the quality of accommodation. It was supposed to be a three course dinner but turned out to be a buffet The taste was uninteresting and reminded of office meals. The waitress warned that one should not take too much so that they would not run out of food (this happened in the very beginning). Additionally the people were put into a tiny room to eat and that was not very pleasant during covid19.

Really easy place to stay

Received a letter from the rep stating our 5 digit numeric code to unlock the apartment door which was really simple and very welcome. Also had a code for our individual ski locker downstairs. The apartment was very functional but well laid out. Bed was fine but pillows were small. Make sure you check the drawers as the extra towels are in there. There is no housekeeping all week. We had a studio (rukavillage30 on the official website), so we were entitled to breakfast in the attached Colorado bar. Breakfast was ok but the same each day. Some people came from other apartment blocks but nobody ever questioned if we were entitled to a breakfast. It was very relaxed. The drying cupboard in the apartment was really handy. The sauna was great too. It seemed like everything was well~thought out to make your stay as relaxed as possible. Use the supermarket for cheaper beer and snacks. At first, we thought the Finns were a bit miserable, as they never went out of their way to be friendly but as soon as you talked to them, they changed their attitude and were very chatty. I guess they are more reserved than we are. All in all, the apartments were ideal, especially being a few paces from the gondola and main chairlift. Worth a trip but I doubt we will return as the 30 runs aren’t enough to keep you interested over 6 days of skiing. They were relatively easy compared to the Alps but don’t let that put you off because everyone appreciates a piste to themselves at some point! We paid to see the northern lights but saw nothing. Decided to just walk outside at midnight onto blue piste 6 and saw an amazing aurora on two separate nights for free.

Very good food, wornout rooms, needs facelift
Reviewed By DarryaNice for a few days. We loved the food and restaurant. Especially good food on weekends. Rooms are old. Family room has a small fridge and a sauna. Beds are terrible, no good sleep. National park is beautiful and air is clean. Water is pure and soft. Spa area is small. Nice though. Water is super cold. Tip for the hotel. Boss, wake up now! Apply EU money and build few northern lights huts for families and couples like they do in Pyhä. Rooms need update and fast.
