I can't put more than 3 star unfortunately, They have to be more attentive about the guest's that don't respect the silence hours. I had the bad luck to have my room just in front of the elevator, room 419 (since the first night I had no chance to sleep at all during all my stay) so I pay to be awake all night as others guest just didn't care about the silence hours, and they where talking loudly and screaming during almost all night, on my second night, there were more than 10 people sited on the corridor outside the room after 11h30pm ( I reported it to reception). So sadly that the reception didn't care about my complain, they were just sorry, I would luckily appreciate a little gesture, but one even joke with me telling me if you didn't sleep I can offer you a coffee SERIOUS MAN ?? Ok is an Hostel but like everyone I pay my journey as well and I think to sleep it's a minimum requirement. For the rest nothing to say it was all really nice.

Sun light is my enemy

Reviewed By dajamtart

Stayed in Helsinki for an evening and I wasn’t too pleased with the single room I had, the place looked in dire need of a refurbishment. My biggest issue was that the room didn’t have curtains, only shutter blinds that don’t close all the way. In the summer, the sun rises at about 3am so the room was flooded with light and was unable to sleep from this.

warm welcome to finland

Reviewed By sineee

I decided for my first trip to Finland to start in Helsinki, and I chose the Yard Hostel. It is situated perfectly close to the station, but I have to admit: being tired after a long trip it was quite hard for me to find the hostel. Maybe I should have had a better look at the instructions sent via e-mail. But well, as I said, I was busy traveling. The hostel was super clean and whilst the bedrooms offered some privacy (beds with curtains), the lounge area was very inviting to communicate with your co-travelers. I enjoyed my stay there a lot and would fully recommend it!!

Never ever book this hotel!!

Reviewed By HonestAboutHotels

I stayed a long period and lost a lot of money to this crappy place. At last they gave me an offer (you can ask an offer if you stay longer) and when I accepted it they said I cannot get it - even they made me the offer!! - and said they got no rooms on that price and I can book more expensive options. And you'd easily see from the website that there's cheaper rooms and I accepted their offer right away even it'd have been valid 2 weeks. When I called them said they won't continue my reservation. And I had to wait every answer like a week btw. So if you want a hotel that you cannot trust and it advertises cheap deals even it only wants to trick you this is your place. If you don't want to support a non-trustable hotels go elsewhere.

Clean, quiet, basic and value for the money

Reviewed By Mikainul

We had an early flight from Helsinki airport and we just needed a clean and quiet place to sleep. All the airport hotels where over 200€/night and I didn’t want to pay that much. I found 20rooms from Trip Advisor and read the good comments which I found out to be true. The common area is cosy and nicely decorated. I wish the rooms where as nicely decorated as the common area. The rooms are very basic but clean and with good madrass, pillows and duvets. Be aware that there is no toilet in the room but you need to use the shared shower/toilette. This was no problem for us since I knew this before hand we where there just to sleep. the shower/toilet was nice and clean. The hostel was extremely quiet and all the door codes etc. functioned as promised. We felt safe eventough there where no hostel personel present. Getting to the hostel was easy from Tikkurila station (around 10 min) and getting to the airport was also smooth. I would stay again and recommend to friends.

A great hostel on a beautiful island

Reviewed By kevinbalanda

I just stayed for most of the week and the hostel is a welcoming comfy place to recover a long day exploring in the cold March weather. It was basic accommodation but totally adequate. I would highly recommend it for solo travellers, group travellers and families. It is less than 5 minutes from to ferry which will take you into Helsinki in 15 minutes. A great find!

Great place and fantastic host !

We stayed 2 nights in a tipi and a tent which Kai prepared for us, with comfortable beds and warm sleeping bags. His garden is very well equipped with "dry toilets" (very clean), outside kitchen (everything is furnished even a personal cooler), solar shower, a tiny pond where you can fish etc... etc... everything you need, Kai can lend it to you, and if Kai doesn't have it, then you Don't really need it !!! We went canoeing with Kai in the park (so close to kai's house) and he is a very good guide, even to find mushrooms and berries ! Good advices, very interesting conversation about finish culture, even cooking course : we bought a full fish in the supermarket 5mins from the house and Kai showed us how to properly smoke it in his smoking box ! That was delicious ! We recommend!

Love this place

Reviewed By adamd170689

This is my second time staying here and I love the character of the place . There is a beautiful old fashioned wooden lift where you have to pull the metal grate open . Then the actual hot is like staying in a traditional apartment from years ago - there is a beautifully decorated kitchen . Wonderful location and friendly staff, Thank you!
