I was skeptical to try Mexican food in Mississippi but it was surprisingly good. The Mexican food I typically eat is not from the same region as the food at sombras but it was good nonetheless . I had the black bean and goat cheese tamale which was wrapped in a banana leaf. The guacamole was good as well. Hello, Thank you for the review! This place once was very good. The last several times have not been so good. This evening has turned me off completely. Where do I start? We ordered a large quacomole which was inedible due to the amount of lemon. The large salsa was like eating flavored red water. The tacos were very greasy and did not have the authentic flavor as they use to since they no longer use cilantro. They have started putting sour cream on the tacos which they never have in the past and is not listed on the menu. My wife does not like sour cream. The tacos were very greasy. Normally with large sides you get two bags of chips. I was shorted four bags as we ordered three larger sides and only received two small bags of chips. It's too bad as this place was good and had potential. My number is 601-955-3808 if management really cares to discuss.

This restaurant previously known as Millerâs 471, is providing some excellent Mexican food and service. Mr. Fernando is a very nice man and will come by to check on you and visit if youâll carry on a conversation. He is careful to make sure you are being taken care of. Excellent selection of dishes. All are presented in a very nice way on the plate and portions are very Big! Sometimes young staff need a little help with following up promptly with customers but thatâs expected in a new restaurant with new employees learning the ropes. Weâve been twice and weâll be back again.

This restaurant is average at best. Service is spotty at best and food is nothing to write home about. With a lots of Mexican restaurants in the area to choose from they are not making the grade in my opinion. I would say the food is not bad but not great either. We waited extremely long time for drink refills after I had to almost hollar to get the waiters attention. Most likely we will not be back with so many options in the area.

Ate lunch here Sunday shortly after church and they were busy. It seemed like they were having trouble serving a full house. Everyone seem to be on edge but this could be a one time thing. I was served my chips and salsa promptly once they got me seated and everything else went smooth. I had the lunch quesadillas and it was a good portion served with some salsa, lettuce, sour cream and guacamole. Lunch was good and I will come back.

Our first trip to El Potrillo was with fans of the restaurant. The wait staff was friendly and attentive and the margaritas (salt/rocks/nobeer) were tasty. We ordered guacamole dip as an accent for our tortilla chips and 2 out of 3 of us liked it. (A lot of sour cream is used in it.) We did not order the guacamole version prepared at our table, so this may be a different experience. Two of us shared the Chicken Fajitas for 1 person and were stunned at the quantity of food prepared for us. Unfortunately more than we could eat. But the taste and quality were delicious. I cannot give this restaurant 5 stars only because the ambience of the place was wanting. We were escorted to the very back of the restaurant, weaving through narrow passages between tables that proved uncomfortable for all of us. And tables were very close together, making the noise level too high for my comfort. However, the decor was tasteful and built around the "Little Pony" name of the restaurant!

A local friend recommended this as the best authentic Mexican restaurant around. Itâs a small place and doesnât impress from the outside, but sometimes those have the best food. However I was underwhelmed. I got the enchiladas with spicy beef inside and queso on top (I forget the actual name). The beef wasnât spicy and the queso was lukewarm and bland. The salsa and chips were good. The chips come seasoned and is supposedly one of the things theyâre known for. Iâd like to think there are plenty of better Mexican restaurants around, or I would hope so.

Fernando has been around the Metro food scene for decades with Fernando's Mexico City Dining the Crown Jewel. Authentic Mexican fare with superb service and atmosphere. Really varied menu and not just your standard Tex-Mex entrees. A step up from most Mexican restaurants.

Tried this new restaurant in Brandon. The atmosphere was very colorful and pleasant. Service was very good. I enjoyed chicken fajitas. Salsa was good. Chips could have been a bit fresher.

Food is always consistent and they have the best chips and salsa in Jackson! I love the Fernandos Nachos, though they recently changed the name. Taco Tuesday is fun and inexpensive for a night out! I like the crispy flour shell with seasoned ground beef. Yum!
