Firstly, I wasn't expecting this place to be a sports bar so that was kind of disappointing. Secondly, we were SO looking forward to this poke - but the poke we'd bought at the local supermarket (Foodland in Waikoloa) was way better than Umeke's. The fish tacos were also good but nothing special. Pretty disappointed as we were expecting this place to be really good! The staff was, on the other hand, amazing! Very friendly and helpful.Aloha,Thank you for your honest review. We feel sorry that you did not enjoy your meal with us. This is not the normal experience one should have at our restaurants. What makes our poke and seafood dishes so special is that we only serve the freshest fish from Hawaiian waters, with each batch of poke made in small portions to ensure the highest quality and freshness. We incorporate both traditional Hawaiian recipes and also infuse popular local dishes with modern twists. The food here was fabulous! KaâU Fish (Nairagi) was the fresh catch and it was one of the best fish plates Iâve ever had on the Island! It was really tasty and melt-in-your-mouth tender. Tina' cooks your meal to order, using wonderful but not overdone spices, and the freshest ingredients from the farm, sea and market. Everything is delicious. Portions are large. You may want to split a meal if you aren't that hungry. the only downside? Better have the time to wait for thaat custom cooked meal. Tina's is very popular and there;s only room for one chef in the kitchen, so you'll have to wait y our turn. but if you have the time, relax andf wait for a mouth watering and wonderful meal. I especially love her tom ka soup! Lunch only, except for special occasions.

Consistent food and service is where Shimaichi Sushi shines. I've gone there a few times, and I'll go again. I went with business associates the first time and we were all hungry, and had to wait because they were busy. Once seated, I told the server we were really hungry and asked if they could bring us some rice, edamame, and beers ASAP while we looked at the menu. The server followed through immediately with my request and we were so grateful (the server was sharp, caring, and did the right thing). The food is also excellent ... definitely give them a try!

This is a classic Big Island local eatery thatâs worth checking out whenever youâre heading south of Kona :)). Itâs been in operation since the 1920s and features excellent Japanese cuisine, including super Ono misoyaki style blackcod (mmmm!). My oyako donburi was really tasty too... The service was exceptionally courteous, quick, and efficient... prices were reasonable as well :). BTW, theyâre open early for breakfast too... If youâre seeking a good Japanese restaurant, give Teshimaâs a try... enjoy!

What a cracker of an eatery. Everything we had was delicious, especially the seafood pasta which is easy to mangle in lesser hands,. The owners young children took delight in serving the tables and good on them for learning responsibilities in this regard. This place as far as we can tell is the absolute stand out in the area around Captain Cook. We heartily agree with everyone who has rated this highly. It is wise to book as it is very popular, but we walked up and got an inside table on a week night in summer. Plenty of car parking off street.

Hubby and I shared pineapple fried rice and rice noodles with savory sauce. Both were fantastic. Iced tea good too. Good sized plates. Very tasty meals. Would return without hesitation. A bit warm inside, but they had extra fans going to cool room. Fast service, no wait on Fri night around 6 pm.

A very unassuming place but the food was wonderful. Peter and all the staff were awesome! We liked the Tropical Treat roll. I was all good. We shared several rolls around the table. After looking on TripAdvisor I really wanted to try this food truck while we passed thru Volcano. The address listed here on TripAdvisor took us to a gated off road (possibly a driveway) in what appeared to be a neighborhood. Sadly, we never did find this truck.Maybe an update of their location on TripAdvisor is necessary. Aloha, sorry but we are(were) not operating at this time. We lost our lease at our community center. We hope to open up again soon in Volcano at a different location.Sorry for the confusion
