Great place to stay

Reviewed By taijakk

Overall a great experience. Good breakfast, clean room, everything very close and helpful service. The room could be updated. The furnitures were quite old. It was a place where we would definitely stay again! We loved having a sauna in our room and still the temperature didnt get too warm.

Worst experience

Everything that could go wrong went wrong. We were checking-in in time but they made us wait for the room which was still in cleaning. Cleaning would go on for I don't know how long, but we got another room that was ready (I don't know why we didn't get that one in the first place). The room was a weird double room made by joining two rooms together. It had no dining table for example. Tablet in the room was not working so I had to call a premium hotel number for room service. Bathrobes were the wrong size and quantity. Spa tickets are only included for one day even if you stay for multiple nights. This is shown only in a very small font and not in the first page of the room on the hotel's website. Slippers are not included in the room and are sold for 5 € a pair. There was loud banging noise from upstairs at night. Vaasa itself was very grey at winter and all amenities were closed or reduced because of winter time and on weekends. I wouldn't recommend for anyone as it wasn't even cheap. Never again.

Best location, fantastic staff

Reviewed By PatrikL245

The location is the best among all hotels in Vaasa. The main shopping centre is in the same building. The main square and all the restaurants are also right around the hotel. I was given one of the refurbished rooms, which was clean, modern and overall one of the best rooms i have stayed in any hotel in Vaasa. The only negative thing in the room were the very cold floors. Pillows were kinda hard and felt like they were at the end of their life cycle too. The staff at the reception were extremely friendly! One of the friendliest receptions I have ever received in Finland. They gave me my room at 1.30 pm even though the check in time is at 3. Pm. I want to thank them for doing that without me even asking for it. The breakfast was alright, nothing special, but overall better than the breakfast at Scandic Vaasa for example. In case you are into fitnes, they have a gym and offer a free access to one of the best gyms in town which is 200m away from the hotel!

Great breakfast and very nice staff

Reviewed By Ricardo_lexington

This is an old hotel with a quirky interior and kind of old character. I think it's great that they haven't tried to modernize but instead stayed true to the original design. Everything is in good shape, the bed was great, and everything was clean. Spent the evening in the bar. Their scrimp sandwich is epic. The breakfast was amazing. One of the best I've seen. What really made our stay was the really nice staff. Everyone was really friendly and attentive. Great job!

A good night sleep, Very average experience

Reviewed By AulMith

We (small family) spend a couple of night in this hotel in July 2020. The location: outside of Vaasa which was great for us. Obviously, no hassle with parking the car. There is a supermarket across the road if you need anything. The room: ours was clean and well kept with two comfy beds. Bathroom was very clean too. It did get stuffy in there though as the ventilation did not seem to work. Opening the window will help; you'll get some moped races noises and the rather loud seagulls. That said, we did sleep rather well. The dinner: booking.com will advertise that the dinner is included in the price and it is, but, the dinner is a buffet style dinner with very simple food (pasta and some salad). Nothing wrong with it, but just keep your expectations real. Also, one night per week, there is no dinner served. It so happens that one night per week, the whole hotel closes down, there is no one in the hotel except the guests. Essentially, there is no service. Nothing.... If you insist, the staff will offer you to deliver some food to your fridge and you can reheat that yourself with a microwave on the second floor. The food will be the lunch menu. After a day, out and about, we got back to the hotel and found the food in our fridge.... pity, there were no napkins, no cutlery, just food in some containers. Since there's no staff in the hotel, we went to buy some cutlery at the supermarket. Food was just not great and we ended up eating some instant noodles. Breakfast is okeish, just don't expect an large hotel breakfast buffet. if you like strong coffee, you might be disappointed. Service overall: a banner informs you in the reception, that smaller hotels serve better than larger hotels... well, not really. Between the "no sorry no dinner because we don't work tonight", the very average breakfast, the delivery of food without cutlery, the stuffy rooms, the bar closed at 9.30pm and probably other points I forget, it is hard to be satisfied with our stay. Yes, the staff works hard.... at the end of the day, we just want a hassle free stay with a good night sleep and no frustration.

An unique accommodation with friendly service and great location

Reviewed By Jorma P

A nice accommodation in an old house, an excellent sauna (the one included in the room price) and friendly service. The room was rather basic, but offered everything we needed for our short stay. Good breakfast, we did not try the restaurant because of lack of time. The location is very good for hiking the nearby nature paths.
