Vallejo (/vəˈleɪ(h)oʊ/ və-LAY-(h)oh; Spanish: [baˈʎexo]) is a waterfront city in Solano County, California, located in the North Bay sub-region of the San Francisco Bay Area. Vallejo is geographically the closest North Bay city to the inner East Bay, so it is sometimes mistakenly associated with that region. The population was 115,942 at the 2010 census. It is the tenth most populous city in the San Francisco Bay Area, and the largest in Solano County. Vallejo sits on the northeastern shore of San Pablo Bay, 30 miles north of San Francisco, the northwestern shore of the Carquinez Strait and the southern end of the Napa River, 15 miles south of Napa. The city is named after General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo, a native Californio, leading proponent of California's statehood, and one of the first members of the California State Senate; the neighboring city of Benicia is named for his wife, Francisca Benicia Carrillo de Vallejo.

When Rubio's first opened in Vallejo and its first few years, the service was excellent and fast. Nowadays, it runs on the very slow pace. You can see it too when you are waiting and look over at the kitchen area. People seem to be just standing and chatting mostly. One time, we noticed the staff suddenly started moving more when apparently the manager or supervisor came in the entrance door from a short errand maybe. Not very well managed or motivated staff it seems. Too bad because despite the ever-increasing prices, it still has good food.

A pleasant surprise to the San Francisco bay area. Word of mouth spread their adverting.around the bay area. That's how I found out about this restaurant.A great place for family and friendsSelections and variety are superb. guess can eat in or take out.Great side dishes, desserts,drinks.There are too many locations to list, but i would say from Sacremento in the North bayon down the Hwy . 80 south to San Francisco and between localities. or one can google them on the internet for locations nearest yourself.(It's so good. that one might bite their fingers off enjoying the meal, ha ha ha ).

This is a very, very good suchi restaurant..!! It is our new favorite and sorry to say it is about a 5 hour drive from our home in Southern California. Nice atmosphere; very good service; reasonable prices and the food excellent..!! We will definitely come here again when we are in the area..!

Read a few previous comments not so complimentary. The building was deceptively small, but made up for it in the enclosed patio overlooking the wharf area. They also have open air seating in the front. Found the staff most pleasant and prompt with their service. The menu was extensive with fish or shellfish dishes. Also have Steak and salads too. I had the Kobe Beef Burger due to food allergies, and the son had the Cajun Jambalaya. When the plates hit the table, they arrived steaming hot and the smells emanating from the Jambalaya were mouth watering. The burger was done perfectly, and came with the usual garnishes to complete it. The fries accompanying the burger were also done to perfection, Nice and crispy with the insides cooked thoroughly, but not limp and undercooked like Mickey D's nor were they extra well done either. I find it difficult to find fries cooked to my level of crispiness, but the chef back in the kitchen nailed it. Happy Camper I was. Arrived as the sun was setting and the view, the sky, and and the day winding down made the experience a positive one. I will certainly return in the future..

If you want something different, go to The Dead Fish. The atmosphere alone will reel you in. The view is of the Carquinez Strait but the food and drink just enhance the restaurant. The restaurant has quite an array of foods and can accommodate those who need gluten-free choices. Just know that this is a popular place and parking can be an issue. Make certain you either call or use Open Table for a reservation.Thanks for the great review!We're happy your time with us was so wonderful! If there were 3.5 stars, I would give this restaurant that rating. The views and location by the water is definitely 5 stars. It's a nice place to watch the sunset. Everything else in the restaurant was mediocre in terms of decor, food and service. Our appetizer was heavily breaded and almost felt burnt. Beef dishes were all in the $30+ range and nothing special. A dinner companion also found his chicken strips disappointing. Service was just fair. i had to get up off the table to get some sugar for my coffee. Bottom line for this restaurant, go for the view.
