This used to be the best bistro in the Geelong, with excellent quality and consistency.Now? The menu seemed trapped in the 70s, ( beef stroganoff, really?) the ordering system borrowed from an outback pub and the quality of food noticeably down. We left confused and disappointed.A return to normal service would be greatly appreciated.

Wow! How nice it was to go out for dinner with friends to a pub and actually have a choice of vegan and vegetarian dishes! Food was yummy and there was plenty of it on the plate. The staff were wonderful - run off their feet but still smiling and taking time and care with each table.I was really impressed and will most certainly be back to try some more of the vegan / vegetarian delights!Hi there, Thank you very much for taking the time to review our venue! The servings are HUGE at Valley Inn hotel! If you're not very hungry you could share the daily roast special. We had the roast turkey, fresh vegetables and roast potatoes! Ask for gravy on the side, as otherwise everything comes drenched in a very rich gravy! They even have $5 pizza nights! Service was quick and efficient.

We hadn't been for a while as it was closed for renovations. To start with, we had some garlic bread unfortunately "micro waved" though the waitress said it was a commercial one. Fried whiting was overcooked and the salad my wife said was "unremarkable". I had the scotch fillet steak garnished with a green spinach sauteed, garlic butter and mushroom sauce on a bed of mash just medium. Well for $39, it was nearly well done , tasteless, butter was hard and the sauce gluey. Both of us were very disappointed. We were offered a free dessert but on principle said NO.

Had dinner here and was greeted by super friendly staff. The meal was much better than I expected, reasonably priced and the service provided by the staff was second to none. Would absolutely come back here again

Our group of 22 loved our visit to Elephant & Castle Hotel. We had a private room booked for a special event our RAAF Reunion we were looked after by the staff so well. Food was amazing so many choices and it was delivered fast. This place has so much character and the atmosphere here was buzzing and this was a Wednesday night! I loved the history of the building and all the prints have a story. Come here to learn more about the owners and the staff are so knowledgeable and friendly. Just the best place to visit anytime of the day or night.

This pub is great anytime! We have adopted it for our family "get togethers" this is our place to enjoy beautiful food and conversation.We had another luncheon yesterday and you could not fault the attention to detail and the wonderful personalities of the staff, they were spot on and looked like they were having a great time also, thank you Caleb and Mary.We have been here many times over many years, it was a place to have a beer and kick back and still is, we recently attended a Teachers College 50 year reunion which was fantastic.if you just want a quiet affordable lunch that suits everyone's budget you can order from their $25 special [this includes a wine or beer] or you can choose from the main menu, it is all beautiful.We live in Ocean Grove and like to support businesses in our area and Geelong so give them a try you will not be disappointed.

Can't believe this guy. I had dinner one Saturday evening amd the food was quite good, the females serving were fine but went back for lunch on the Sunday and the bartender, while talkative and seemingly friendly tried to keep the $20 change. Had to tell him I gave him a $50 but I wasn't angry about it. He said "haha I ripped you off $20" which was obvious and I wasn't amused, neither did he say it in an amusing manner. Never engaged him in conversation after that, just ate and left. I've been back 3 time since amd each time he has been a complete sook and quite discourteous. I guess he must be feeling sad about being caught shortchanging a customer, but he really should get over it as he has made himself look like an absolute goose to me and I won't be back for more of his sooking attitude.Hi Jimtraveler44I can assure you the bartender was not trying to "rip you off", it was just an innocent error, as per his joking quip to you.

A group of friends visited and we eat at various places each w/end this was very poor quality we said we would not go back - The size of the Snitzel was very small embarrassing really compared to some hotels, one meal was meant to be slow cooked and was not just very tough meat and meals were loaded with alot of chips --- very average overall for the price that was chargedThe Beef Cheeks that were always popular have been taken off the menu - no reason
