Congratulations Geelong Council. Your development of your foreshore is stunning. You have thought of everything for the family to enjoy a spot of beauty and, best of all, parents only have to put their hands inter pockets if the kids want an ice-cream. Rare these days to find such fabulous free fun for the whole family.

So much laughter was had by us all. We were a family of four who entered, where I (Mum) had already Escaped on a previous occasion, so I got to observe my family attempt the Escape. It was so funny watching my different family members have specific areas where they either excelled or didn't! There were cross words, competitive natures came to the fore, quiet solving techniques by others, but it all made for a great night. The "debrief" at the conclusion was perfect. It took us another 24 hours to debrief fully!!! Literally cried with laughter. Thanks for a great time.

I thought I knew quite a bit about this area but soon realized I didn't. Harvey made this trip, with his story telling ways of giving us the facts and highlighting the attractions. From the Paper Mills, Inverleigh Pub, Sage Choice, Moorabool Valley Chocolates and all in between it was brilliant. I will be singing the praises of Redgum Roadtrips to anyone who will listen. It is a great way to get around and see all this beautiful region has to offer. Thankyou for a wonderful day.

Geelong Botanical Gardens

Reviewed By Christine C - Echuca, Australia

It was a hot summer's day when I visited and I was delighted to discover that despite the season and their proximity to the salty air of the bay, the Gardens were green and abundant. It was the perfect spot to wander around for a few hours, exploring, and enjoying the shade of some magnificent trees, the variety of plants and flowers, the lawns and several other special features such as the Fountain, glass house, and tea rooms.

National Wool Museum

Here the story of wool is brought to life - told by those who lived it and the sounds of heritage machines weaving carpets and knitting socks. Here the smell of lanolin fills the air, fresh fleece beckons your touch and the authentic surrounds of the shearing shed immerse you in the Australian wool story. The National Wool Museum experience is more than just wool. Here history, science, fashion, handcraft and art come together. Here temporary Exhibitions and programs combine learning, exploration and entertainment. Here you can find the finest woollens, learn a traditional craft, explore our region's heritage and maybe even come fate-to-face with creatures from our past. Today the National Wool Museum is one of Australia's cultural treasures, a major asset to the City of Greater Geelong and a cultural heritage destination for visitors and community.

The sheep shearing was a great exhibition, and it proved a sheep is not a cat, especially if you have tried go give a cat some medicine. The weaving machine that made Persian carpets was beyond my understanding, but interesting. Three levels accessed by ramps and worth the entry fee.

Everyone loved what they had. More than one hundred people for breakfast, everyone received hot food. Orange juice in jugs on the table. Well done.

Bellarine Rail Trail

Reviewed By ladylunchalot666 - Nagambie, Australia

Rode a hybrid bike from Queenscliff to Drydale and return yesterday and found the trail in need of maintenance and up grading. It is adversly affected by recent heavy rainfall in the area. There are many areas with stretches of water and mud that make riding difficult. There are signs up stating rough services. The landscape is lovely, views across farmland, diverse folliage, and even came across a turtle crossing the path. Drysdale station is a great place to stop, especially for young families. It is well serviced, and i was pleasantly surprised to find a coffee van here. There are other rest areas along the way. The return trip to Queenscliff is mostly downhill. As you start to see glimpses of Swan Bay and the township, the view becomes blocked out by a stand of cypress pines planted on a fenceline. Suma Station is another rest area, and I wondered if there was access to the winery behind the station for rail trail users. This trail has the potential to be a wonderful attraction for all age groups, and provide a safe off road experience for bikeriders, joggers, and walkers. The signage needs maintenence also, as they are faded and difficult to see. I look forward to returning and riding the full distance next visit. I note that other users have accessed the steam train to return to the start of the journey, this is a unique service.

A day in Geelong playing tourist and a visit to the gallery.... an eclectic selection of some great paintings from great colonial Australian artists and others.. McCubbin, Boyd, von Guerard... iconic artists and paintings..
An added bonus with Kylie Minogue's collection of performance outfits from D&G and others.
A small display, though well worth the visit.
A good selection of interesting things in the shop as well...
