We stayed at Quinta da Vila. Alfredo (from quinta da vila) advised is to go here and take our time for a good lunch. That turned out to be a great idea!Incredible and unique place! The "village" the restaurant is in is just like a little "open air museum" in the middle of nowhere.We had the codfish (bacalhau) and chocolate mousse for desert. It was just great!And when we were there it was very foggy and a bit rainy. So with good weather the view over the valley must be beautiful so that will make it even better ;-)

This restaurant is very well located (next to the Monastery); it has a nice ambience and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The entries are very good and very âPortugueseâ â some foreigners probably will find strange some of the offer. Already the meat dishes are for all tastes and are very tasteful. As the portions are so big I didn´t try the desserts but they looked delicious. Enjoy!

After a long walk in "Passadiços do Paiva" we went to arouca to restore strength. The best dish could only be the traditional "Posta Arouquesa" which was accompanied by a "Arroz de salpicaõ", which was very good. The meat was tender and the availability of the employee to access my special requests was what most pleased us.
