Where to eat French food in Dallas: The Best Restaurants and Bars

September 29, 2019 Leida Jutras

Find out what French restaurants to try in Dallas. You may have all heard that everything is bigger in Texas. Well, Dallas does its best to fulfill that promise. You'll find several museums with vast art collections and fascinating specialty museums like The Sixth Floor Museum/Texas School Book Depository, which, though small in size, offers an immense amount of information about the assassination of John F. Kennedy. And of course, visit a local steakhouse for a terrific (and enormous) meal.

Best grilled oysters ever. Great wine selections for a smaller venue and the specialty drinks were very nice. My husband was unimpressed with the bouillabaisse--kinda bland sauce. The service was GREAT but the noise was SO bad from the patrons it was jarring. It didn't help a loud talker was only 2' away--seems table are a bit close.

We had a very enjoyable dinner at Cadot. The food and service was wonderful. The waitstaff very attentive! I ordered the rabbit and it was divine with a rich brown gravy that perfectly complemented the pappardelle pasta. Our server offered several drink and dining suggestions that complemented our meal nicely.

Toulouse Cafe and Bar (Dallas)

Toulouse is a small yet welcoming French bistro that offers delicious classics and attentive service in a posh setting.

Friends suggested we eat dinner at Toulouse which I had never been too. Valet parking is plentiful and easy. The French bistro look and feel is evident, particularly if you eat on the porch outside. We chose the cooler climate controlled inside experience.I started with the Lobster Bisque, which was disappointing. It was clearly sitting in the kitchen waiting to be delivered to me, because the soup arrived with a thin layer of "skin" at the top, and it had lost some warmth. I should have sent it back.My main entree was Dover Sole Meunière, a very sizable portion expertly filleted at table side by the server. It was quite tasty, as were the vegetables accompanying. We split the chocolate mousse dessert which was rich, creamy and very tasty. All in all, I'll return because it's a good operation but will likely skip the soup next time.

Lavendou, a retreat into the French countryside - a place where life is savored as much as the food. Lavendou is thoroughly French, from the inviting decor to the gracious service and authentic cuisine. But don't expect it to be pretentious. Owner Pascal

We have dined here several times now for special occasions and Lavendou never disappoints. Service is always quite attentive. The wine, salads, food selections, and desserts are hard to beat. I will admit, I was a little disappointed this last time that the chocolate souffles were not available - those are my favorites. The dover sole in lemon butter is my absolute go-to dish and I will keep returning for this fish!

The atmosphere is lovely; light piano music, soft chatters and no TV! Service was great and a good variety of wine. The Brie and champagne soup was to die for! Definitely worth a visit!

This was my first time having a Souffles and it was delicious. My family and I orded the marshmallow soup, parisan sandwich, crab and avocado souffles. Everything was great. I really can't compare this souffles to anything else but they were very flavorful and fluffy. We did indulge in a chocolate souffle for dessert and I think that was my favorite out of everything. We paid about $100 for all 5 plates. Good food, great service but i can't really say I'll ever crave a souffle.Merci Kathleen! I'm so glad you enjoyed your time at rise and experienced wonderful service:) We hope to see you again very soon!
