We returned to Brantome following a trip here last year.We came upon this Creperie/Restaurant by chance,whilst wandering around.It had just opened 2 months before we arrived.We always like to check out any new places to eat as it always gives you further options.L'Authentique gave a good impression as soon as you walked through the door.Although quite small,good use has been made of the area & the Chef,the owner,works in an open kitchen which was sparkingly clean.The Chef & waiiter were both extremely welcoming & helpful.We visited twice,my wife having savoury crepes on both occasions.I had duck the first time & had a very tasty crepe the second.Sweet crepes are also available for your pudding course,but I had one,on both visits,called Konign Amman,beautiful,but a little heavy.I couldn't have downed another.Before opening the restaurant they had to overcome some extremely difficult problems.Despite this,L'Authentique has become,in my estimation,a place which should be encouraged.

Brantome is small, so perhaps "searching" is not exactly the right word. Situated right next to the river, this is a very good little restaurant which must be booked at least a few hours ahead. All the food was delicious, and could be washed down with a very good wine. Service was good without being intrusive. Recommended.

Myself and my wife stopped at this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. It was a really hot day and they supplied endless water without even asking. We both ordered the special set house menu which was 2 courses. The service was slow but we were in no hurry. The main was a homemade quiche with chips and salad. The quiche was one of the best weâd both ever had. The desert was ice cream that was also very good. The whole meal was less than â¬40 with a couple of beers. Definitely recommend.

Recommend this little place for - superb coffee -best in brantome - friendly staff- central location - ability to deal with allergies ( nuts / gf)- good range of drinks ( I enjoyed a good aperol spritz & a glass of Bordeaux wine )- a casual bite - Iâd happily recommend the cheese plate and the charcuterie plate which is sourced from Carteau ( the Carteau shop is located beside the restaurant and has the most amazing food Iâve come across in France - their pates and foie gras dishes are tdf)A Super little find !

Do not hesitate to order 'A la carte', your wallet will not suffer. All the dishes we got were full of character and taste (for example the 'Oeuf or cassoulet "a la perigourdine" ').Be sure to have a look on the 'Bas-Armagnac', they are fantastic (also a refreshing surprise for seasoned whisky amateurs)!Many thanks for your visit and your review.You like our local dishes, our prices...we try do have the best value for money, with local product.You seem to like our Bas armagnac list 1973-1992-1999-2002 how I'm agree with you, for wiskies it's Marielle's job.See you next time sure you haven't taste all..RegardsGilles

We opted for the â¬48 pp menu. I started with the razor clam and chanterelle starter, which came as two elements - the razor clam "broth" and then the mushroom plate. My wife had the Onion/Leek tart. Both very good.For mains we had the duck breast in walnut sauce, which sounds odd but works and my Wife the trout. Again very good quality and well cooked.I cant remember the deserts but do recall that they were not as good as the 1st two courses. Various little tasters/amuse bouches added to the overall experience. Nice bottle of Sancerre Rouge.Overall, this is a restaurant that I will return to and somewhere for a special night out. This was our 2nd visit to this restaurant. Just as good and the staff our all excellent and make you feel totally at home. Good choice of starters, mains etc. We had the fish cakes, large free range pork chop and shared the Cafe Gourmand. The wine by the glass is superb as are the Gin & Tonics. Both visits our bill came to around â¬80 which for the standard of food and service is great value.Do check out the artwork. hanging on the walls. Painted by a local artist and reasonably priced. We fell in love with one of painting of a young girl in a library and it is now hanging on our salon wall!

Thoroughly enjoyable evening. We eat outside and the welcome was so friendly. They have clearly worked very hard at creating a great ambiance and the food was very, very good. We had walked from Brantome but we're staying a few miles away so the owner took over our phone call and made sure the taxi arrived after we had finished another drink in the delightful garden. So glad we booked.
