Charbonnel

This time for lunch, and the meal was delicious! Off menu, the pan fried foie gras in a mushroom sauce was heavenly, and the magret with berries delicious. A few tasty amuse bouches particularly little sorbets ideal for the hot weather. Service is truly friendly and professional unlike some other establishments in the town. Definitely worth a visit!

Le Moulin de l'Abbaye

In an elegant and somber atmosphere, the Abbey Mill’s gourmet restaurant welcomes you for lunch and diner. This room with white stone walls offers a peaceful place in the heart of the Dronne. You’ll have an incredible view on the river from every table, which will give you the opportunity to admire the « Venice of Perigord » while enjoying fine and tasty cuisine.

We went for lunch as a group of 4. The setting on the water is lovely and the restaurant has a rarified atmosphere. Make sure you dress well!! and book in advance as the interior restaurant is quite small. As with all fine dining establishments in France, you get a lot of extras, so we were happy to order from the a La carte menu. We were offered 2 amuse bouche before our entrees and a plate of petit fours in lieu of dessert with our coffees. Service was formal and attentive, the young ladies who served us were happy to speak English to the non French speakers in our group. Definitely a special occasion destination.

I have been travelling through France for 50 years and stayed at a lot of places, we travelled down to Marciac recently . four of us including two Chefs, we stay a nice places and always review the restaurant before booking, this small hotel had some interesting reviews so we booked and are so very pleased we did. Run by a talented young couple, both very artistic and extremely talented in the kitchen, we voted this the best food on our trip and we stayed at some famous places.
The rooms a fabulous with some very arty touches, real linen sheets and very modern. the Gardens are very romantic and again express the artistic side to this place, we cannot recommend this place enough, and we dont think they charge enough, so get in before they read this.
Room Tip: Its all Fab

The restaurant is situated on a Terrace from which there are nice views of the Abbey and the site of the former monks' Gardens (regrettably across a carpark).
The main dishes for our lunch were adequate but nothing special, but the clafoutsis served for dessert as part of the fixed luncheon menu had been prepared well (? days) in advance and was of a distinctly rubbery texture.
Service was pleasant and attentive.

Visited at lunchtime and enjoyed a first class meal with matching service, a little pricey for a lunchtime meal but well worth it. Would definitely recommend visiting it. The setting is stunning with plenty of outdoor Seating, although we ate indoors as a little chilly that day.

We stayed at the hotel and ate on the Terrace for two nights. In a town where tourists don't always get the best deal, this is an exception - lovely setting, friendly hosts, super food and all at a great price. I tried the "surprise" menu at €30 and wasn't disappointed - I won't give away the surprise, simply to say it features great local ingredients. Booking essential at busy times.

Initially we just stopped for a coffee, but when we picked up the menu the choice was fantastic. It was not a simple coffee but rather a difficult choice between all the coffees and teas on offer. It was an Aladin's cave of coffees, teas and other drinks. Inside it was packed out with packets to buy.
Well worth a visit.
