Beautiful, cosy : a perfect stop

We stopped on our road trip for one night. Arrived fairly late and got pleasantly surprised by an upgrade to the little cottage “La Laguna” This is view on a pond - 2 bedrooms accommodations. Super spacious and beautifully decorated. There is a real fireplace - which we got working straight away. The farm is beautifully decorated - gave us straight the Christmas feeling. We got for dinner served in the accommodation some “plates” of local food. Quite pricey but came very handy after a long day on the road and it was super well prepared and so yummy! Breakfast was so cute and delicious. The place has animals (great for kids) and a small but nice pool. Our only regret is that we stayed only one night & we did not get a chance to enjoy the pool. But we would be back Highly recommended place

Disgraceful! Beware of crooks!

My wife and daughter had a very pleasant stay at the swanky Villa des Arts (August 14th , 15th) and we originally gave them a review of “excellent” (albeit we overlooked the very slow dining room service, but the excellent service provided by the group of nice young men operating the place made up for it). Upon checkout we paid for our two-night stay in cash of 242 euros, instead of using our credit card that we used to book the stay on booking.com. Perhaps that seems like a risky venture? Well, we’ve paid in cash numerous times at hotels and never had any problem until these guys decided to sting us. Unfortunately we got rid of the receipt of payment too hastily as it was almost unthinkable that such a delightful bunch of young men would try to rob us blind! Alas, that was our foolish mistake. A couple of days later we saw that they charged us a second time on our credit card the full amount of 242 euros. I called them which forced me to use my limited French speaking skills to suggest that perhaps there had been a simple misunderstanding. None of the staff speak much English except for one fellow, who speaks very well, but somehow my phone calls and my follow-up emails evaded him as well as the mysterious “receptionist” who they promised would get back to me but never did. I finally got through and the response sounded of genuine concern: “Oh là là! C'est un problème!” How these lads operate with such flair! They said they’d call back but didn’t. I contacted the booking.com and shortly thereafter we received an email from the hotel stating that they had made a mistake and that they would reverse the charge. So it was a hilarious misunderstanding after all! They scanned us a (bogus) credit card transaction slip that they claimed served as proof of our reimbursement. We waited a few days, but no reimbursement. We contacted the hotel again and they encouraged us to check with our own bank to see if the problem might be with them - what brilliant lateral thinking! Why hadn’t I thought of that? We kindly asked them to provide further proof of the refund through a more reliable electronic format. But no answer. We told them if the problem wasn’t resolved by September 6th, we’d express our dissatisfaction through multiple Internet platforms. Again, no answer. Et voilà! Nearly a month later and a whole lot of time and energy spent, not to mention fleeced of 242 euros. USE CAUTION when approaching this hotel, so that you don’t end up a victim of highway robbery, which in the spirit of the hotel, is executed so very artfully.

Highly recommended. A haven of peace. We have stayed in Les Vallées before, en route to a ferry port, and liked the B&B so much that we decided to stay for 2 nights this time and explore that part of Basse Normandie. Margaret and Richard are always very welcoming and Margaret's cooking is delicious, of Cordon Bleu standard. They are also good at suggesting interesting and attractive places to visit or local walks to do. Because I have mobility problems, my husband and I stayed both times in the self-contained ground-floor apartment adjacent to the breakfast/dining room. We did not see the upstairs apartments. Our only 'carp' is that the 2 single bed mattresses in the separate bedroom of the apartment are now not very comfortable and could do with being replaced. Tip: take a Sat-Nav for the co-ordinates provided because the smallholding is very difficult to find, its tranquillity and remoteness being part of its charm. If not, take a large-scale book of maps and obtain detailed directions from Margaret and Andrew, with road numbers and nearby village names. A good idea to have the B&B telephone number handy, in case you need redirecting,

A wonderful week

We had a wonderful, relaxing holiday at La Bihorée due to the beautiful, peaceful environment and the excellent hospitality of Marie-Jeanne! The room (C’est la nuit) was furnished beautifully and very clean. Marie-Jeanne treated us everyday with an amazing home-made breakfast made with local products (served inside the room or outside when the weather allowed it). The location was perfect for combining days of relaxing in the garden and making day trips to Bayeux, Caen, Rouen, Honfleur, etc. The sweet dogs and cats made our restful stay complete!
