Carlucci's Italian Grill - West Windsor 335 Princeton-Hightstown Rd | Princeton Junction, NJ 08550After the tad tricky entering / leaving the parking lot and getting slots nearby due to the ‘also-busy’ ‘neighboring & proximate establishments’ along the same enclave, and, due to following the ‘traffic-signs’, once you get in and find a spot close-enough, you are all set. We always go a tad earlier than our reservation time, as we prefer a ‘Booth’. Once we confirmed our arrival and assure the staff that we do not mind waiting for a Booth to open up, we just sit and relax patiently. It is such a great dining place, that many linger a tad longer once they receive their check; so, even though you might be assured that a Booth (Table) might be opening soon, until the lingering, ‘sitting customers’ finally get out, you just wait. LOL. Once you sit, you feast. Eat. Eat. Eat, to your heart’s content. Delicious food, nice assortment of delicious menu selections at great prices. No wonder we keep coming back for more.

Like everything else in life, you need to know your prices because then you’ll know I’m NOT “spending so much more money at WF” than anywhere else. I buy the majority of my produce (organic or regular) here. I’m looking at quality (freshness) and prices. Last summer I couldn’t find strawberries and asked for them. The store rejected the entire shipment because the quality was poor. I happily didn’t buy strawberries that day. I’ve thrown so much money in the trash because my fruit/vegetable is “yuck!” inside once I open it at home? If I want to try a new vegetable/fruit I’ve had team members spend time giving me info, help me pick out, and cut open and give me a sample (I didn’t ask for one either) of what I to try. There’s someone to help you lift the heavy lifting, into your cart and/or your car. The 365 (WF store brand) electrolyte water, 25 oz, gives case (24 bottles) prices which means equals savings for me, more ounces of water per bottle, and tastes like water (the most important piece for me). All together a win shopping here.

Aljon's Pizza & Restaurant

This is and old and popular pizza parlor in Princeton Junction, with ample off street parking in a strip mall. The ambiance is more or less industrial, but typical for pizzerias. It also offers more traditional Italian meals, which can be eaten there or for take out. The portion size is generous, but otherwise run of the mill. Prices for traditional meals are competitive. There are better choices in this area.

Through the years and chef changes, this place remains a favorite. The menu is ambitious new Italian, inventively shaped, and well executed. We especially like it on a quiet Sunday evening as we wind down the evening. My only complaint is that even with reservations they rarely seat on time: A wait is all but the norm here, which suggests some management challenges. But the decor is lovely and the bar offerings ample, so there are worse things. Long may they prosper.

METRO NORTH RESTAURANT PRINCETON378 ALEXANDER ROAD PRINCETON NJJUST A TAD OUTSIDE OF "IN-TOWN” PRINCETONBack for yet-another round at Metro North Restaurant just a tad outside of “In-Town” Princeton. Still not a bad choice if you want to avoid the ‘in-town’ congestion and relax in an informal, comfortable, atmosphere; … and, you wish to just, simply, enjoy a place filled with a cheerful, jubilant, crowd, out to enjoy a lively evening. Bring your revel-attitude and join the lively jovial, merry, jolly, environment that is far from subdued. For the price, you do get a reasonably decent portion of whichever choice you pick from a relatively wide tasty menu selection, along with a quite-honorable list of nice, different beers to choose from in many different taste categories. Fun, merriment, lively, decent meal from a decent menu selection; decent-tasting food in a proportionate price range …. Cannot go wrong if you are in that area and, again, choose to bypass the ‘in-town’ hassle. Those are some of the reasons why we choose to return to Metro North on Alexander Road whenever we find ourselves in this area.

Capuano Italian Ristorante

A birthday was the theme for a party held recently in Capuano's. The catering menu had many dining options for all budgets--we chose to have three appetizers served family style (clams, garlic bread and mozzarella sticks). There were 4 entrée choices--a traditional red-sauce Italian entrée, a fish (Tilapia), a vegetarian and a chicken. No one was disappointed with their food. They do have whole wheat pasta for those who prefer a healthier option. We paid an additional amount for dessert which included homemade tiramisu, cannoli, and ricotta cheese cake. We all could have finished off additional trays of these goodies. The afternoon proceeded at a steady pace--courses were brought out at appropriate times. I was very pleased with Capuanos.

Romeo's Restaurant & Pizza

Today we went to lunch at Romeo's' an Italian restaurant in a shopping center in Plainsboro. It's a BYOB that is side by side with it's pizza restaurant. We are on the restaurant side.We started with their calamari, which is one of the best we have had anywhere. The rings are huge. It's fried, but very delicately. It comes with a red sauce on the side. The portion is huge. I think it costs $10.99.We come here for the linguine puttanesca. It's also one of the best we have had anywhere. It comes with soup or salad and of course, bread. The puttanesca is excellent. It includes black olives and cracked, large green olives. There's lots of flavor! I finished mine, my wife did not, there was so much! It came home with us.It came with a choice of soup or salad. I went of the soup, which was a potato bacon creak soup. The soup was thick and creamy. My wife was happy with her salad, which was pretty basic and good. The rolls are made from pizza dough. They are very dense. They are warm. Are there negatives? The restaurant has little or no romantic atmosphere. You are going for the food, not the decor.
