Perisher Valley can be a bit lacking in simple, reasonably priced night time "pub food". I'm guessing the abundance of self catering apartments, as well as the numerous full board lodges, may serve to limit the market somewhat. Hampered further by the fact you have to trudge through snow on a cold night to get there - and to get back. Sure there might be a few more fine dining restaurants attached to lodges that take bookings from non resident guests, but there are times when simple pub fare really hits the spot. That's where "The Man" fits in. I'm talking about the main bar area - not the fine dining restaurant beyond. Simple, well priced pub food, order at the bar and take a number to your bar table type arrangement. From pasta to steak, the variety is very good, especially considering where you are. Same goes for the price. We enjoyed a great pizza and pork ribs, which you can wash down with a fair variety of tap beers, all while watching a large screen running a show about a bunch of crazy skiers and boarders in some remote mountain top. Inspiring. All in all, great to see that "The Man" is still going strong.

Yes this is an expensive spot but, considering the effort required to provide food and drink at this location, it's not surprising. It's big. It's warm. And its hot chocolates are yummy: coated in whipped cream with marshmallows. Go try one!

The menu covers all the bases. So if you're vego, pescatarian or a meat lover, into soup, salad, steak, burgers or pizza you will find your favorites. Staff very warm and welcoming, and a decent wine list.

I had plate of tasty scrambled eggs on sourdough toast and coffee at breakfast with my two friends.I liked the warm vibe of the place. Unfortunately, our orders came out at different times resulting in one of us eating early and the other two eating later. Better coordination of table service is needed.

First time vistior to High Ground but have visited Perisher many many times. So happy to have found this little gem. A small venue with friendly staff. First sip of my coffee and I was in heaven. THANK YOU. Saved the.general public from a grumpy person! We are so blessed that alot more people are discovering us and even more thrilled that you found us and love us! Our staff this year are AMAZING and they will be back next year! So we hope to see you next year.
