Public was hosting a party, so we sat outside. It was a little warm, but that was to be expected. Unfortunately, many of the oysters were sold out at 5:30 pm. While disappointing, we enjoyed our happy hour meal. The waiter was not very attentive and seemed to prefer the indoors.

The restaurant is located on the Main Street Pedestrian Mall. It has indoor and outdoor seating. They specialize in steak. We had the prime ribeye ($39). The steaks were prepared to our specification and they were very good. We shared the Au Gratin potatoes($9) and the mixed berry salad ($14) both were excellent. We shared the key lime pie ($8). Our server, Jason was excellent.Their wine list is very good. We particularly liked the Barboursville Pino Grigio. This Virginia vineyard has outstanding wines.

We were visiting a family friend for her 95th birthday. She loves fried oysters and she had been told Shadwell's offered them so we decided this was the perfect place to help her celebrate this very special occassion. She really loved the fried oysters and the she-crab soup - said it was some of the best she had ever had which is quite a compliment coming from someone 95 years old. We had the fish and chips which was also very good. We would recommend Shadwell's as a wonderful dining experience.

My wife and I had dinner with another couple. I'm picky about seafood but was quite impressed. In fact, all four of us had something different and everyone was quite pleased with what they had, which included several starters, entrees, drinks, and dessert. The shrimp cocktail I had was very good and I liked that I could order how many shrimp I wanted. My fish was also worth going back for. To top off the dinner, the key lime pie was among the best I've had out.

My husband likes Bonefish, so I took him there recently for his birthday. Their Bang Bang shrimp, one of their signature dishes, is delicious. The shrimp is lightly breaded and fried, with a slightly spicy sauce on top. I got the crab cake appetizer, which was dense with crab and not a lot of filler....just the way that I like crab cakes. My husband had the fish special. It was pieces of wolf fish, a bottom feeder, wrapped around a lobster mousse. The presentation was interesting. I had ordered the molten chocolate cake for his dessert, and had hoped that it would be a surprise. It got ruined when the server asked if we wanted something else. Because it was his birthday, they comped the dessert and also give you a little box filled with four chocolates....a really nice touch.
