This place is a gem and is loaded with charm out in the country, located about 2 miles from Avranches in Vains. No tourist trap here and the staff were superb! My large group basically filled up this small restaurant, but the accommodated us well. The host at our hotel, La Ramade, in Avranches, recommended this place to us and we were not disappointed. I don't know what an authentic country French restaurant is, but this comes close as to what I would expect. As the namesake implies, the crepes were awesome! I would not hesitate having dinner here again!

A buffet restaurant. Firstly the positives.... Starters alone are worth the 18 euros. Eat as much as you want Half a crab, langoustines, razor clams, whelks, crevettes and loads of salads. You have some tired looking cheese for a 3rd course and then a choice of deserts including a large choice of ice creams. Secondly the negatives.... huge choice of different steaks. I have tried them all at different times and none are any good, if you judge a steak on its eatability. I have had them rare, medium, and well done to see if my teeth could experience less wear and tear. But sadly, they may taste like a steak, but none, no matter how they are cooked are edible. They have a tired very small choice of fish as well. Havenât tried this so canât comment. The other problem is that on a busy evening there are loads of children running around out of control. Its difficult because, this is a self service restaurant with adults moving around with hot food. Highly dangerous. In summary I will still go back as the starters are great. Wine is reasonable and okay.

On a Bank Holiday Monday in early June we had no reservation for lunch and turned up at the Poivre Rouge on the off-chance.No problem - great welcome - table found for us and it only got better from there.A delightful waitress - anxious to practice her English intermixed with my poor French - look after us very efficiently. She pointed out the good value option of choosing one of the set-price menus after we had initially chosen from the a la carte.We started with a self-service choice from a excellent salad bar - far superior to any similar offering in the UK - followed by the main course which arrived in good time and was very tasty.All food was excellent quality and the main courses cooked to perfection.The menu was 13.50 euros each, plus 2 x 50 cl carafes of wine plus 2 coffees came to 42 euros - excellent value.Cher Chris H,Nous vous remercions de votre visite et pour cet agréable avis.Notre objectif quotidien est de proposer à nos clients des moments de plaisir simples aussi gourmands que conviviaux. Couldn't get into the bar over the road due to france playing in the Euro semi final, went tot he Marionnette which is a Pizza restaurant, but they did a steak in peppercorn sauce...fntastic. Not "burnt" enough for my North Eastern palette but very tasty and the sauce - superbe!! Great service and not too expensive.
