Nice place for walks and enjoying the flowerbeds, there is small playground for children even. Next to the park is the church Église Notre-Dame-des-Champs, which is known for some engravings. But the park of course is interesting not because of this fact. We, and not only we alone, were interested in the park because of its view to Mont Saint-Michel in the distance.

A lovely location but very difficult to get there. Spent a week in the area staying near to Avranches. This is obviously a destination that so many people want to visit. Unfortunately the infrastructure of parking is a very long wat to Mont Saint Michel. Thre are not enough notices to assist after the parking your car!! It is obviously becoming a great tourist attaraction but from the local point of view becoming extremely commercialised.

It is amazing when you are approaching to the Abbey! This sight is breathtaking. And than when you come to entrance streets and start to climb stairs and narrow passages, it starts to be mysterious. The whole ambient forces you to return some centuries back to try to imagine life in that time. It is realy amazing.
I will also never forget last spiral stairs with which you actually end your abbey walk - they are so narrow, that you can not pass other person if comming from the other side.

My expectations of the abbey MSM were wildly exceeded. The tour is absolutely worth a couple of hours of your time, if not for the history then for the views across the channel on one side and the French countryside on the other.

We walked around this beautiful town. The town is a picture postcard with numerous small stores and restaurants. There is also a large grocery store at edge of town with laundromats across the roundabout for those of you who would like to wash cloths.

Den gør ikke meget stads af sig, kirken; men vi stoppede nu alligevel for at se den.
Når man kommer ind er der næsten natsort i kirkerummet, vi kunne svagt ane nogle konturer, det eneste, der lyste op var det smukke blyglasvindue for enden ved alteret. Vi begyndte at bruge vores blitz og det var forunderligt hvad der afslørede sig af smukke altre med søjler og udskæringer, prydet med smukke helgenfigurer. Uden for kirkedøren ligger smukke gamle gravsten. Det var en herlig oplevelse.

I went to the German cemetery today... I visited Sword Beach yesterday and visited the British Cemetery at Hermanville. My grandad served with the 33rd Royal Artillery who were attached with the 3rd Division, Monty's Iron Sides. My grandad was a farmer before the war, and made his landing at the age of 19. Fortunately, he survived the war, finished in Breman and was then sent to India after the war to protect the colony before independence was gained. In short, he was a simple man that followed orders, similar to 95% of Germans who fought against the allies during the war...
Going to the German cemetery following the visit to a CWGC maintained site, the differences are quite stark. The British Cemetery is bright, open and a dedicated headstone per fallen hero. The first thing I thought when I saw here was the stereotypical German efficiency. 12000 in almost a crematorium setting, set amongst black volcanic stones and concrete panels. The site is well maintained, don't get me wrong but the ambience is somewhat different. It appears that the Americans and British celebrate their glorious dead and that the Germans have built something that has less soul... Very sad. As I said, 95% of Germans were no different to my grandad or indeed myself... This place is dark and really without character.
Rest in peace to those buried throughout Europe - German, American, British, French, Dutch whoever.....

Quite an interesting museum housing the archives collection from Mont St. Michel. Lots of ancient tomes here and some are on display. Very modern with computers throughout & interesting explanations of the artifacts. Gives a nice added dimension of understanding the Mont St. Michel....
