Denmark Tavern Restaurant

Ate here for a couple of days while staying at the motel next door. Some dishes are great such as the port belly bites, yummy and large portions, however surf and turf was very disappointing, badly cooked (super overdone) poorly seasoned and small thinnish steak. For a $42 steak they need to up their game big time.
Local ale on tap is cheap and very nice, however the guy in the bottle shop could barely be pried away from his phone and we had to ask for paper bags for the bottles, service anyone.....???

Pepper & Salt Restaurant

It's been a full circle for Silas and Angela, who in 2007, along with their children, Marley and Levi (Lumeah was born in 2008), packed up their life in Victoria and headed to Denmark where Silas had been offered the position as head chef at Forest Hill Vineyard. With his passion for locally sourced produce combined with his love of spices, Silas' dishes became a big hit. Fast track to 2010 and Pepper & Salt Restaurant was born! Silas' creativity with herbs and spices produced an outstanding menu that showcased his Fijian-Indian heritage, and with Angela and the team's friendly and attentive service, Pepper & Salt Restaurant became a favourite amongst locals and tourists alike. In 2013, Silas and Angela welcomed the opportunity to relocate their restaurant from Rockcliffe Winery to Forest Hill Vineyard where they continue to develop creative dishes paired with excellent service.

As soon as you walk into the restaurant building the strong smell of spices immediately hits you.
For a fine dining restaurant, the general appearance is more like a self service café, not helped by the noise and closely spaced tables.
Service was a little slow, but a bottle of excellent wine from the vineyard, over which you have a panoramic view, helped to pass the time.
Once you receive your food, any doubts are dispelled. Beautifully cooked and infused with spices. You then realise why this restaurant is so popular.
Regrettably, by the time our order was taken for dessert, the choices were very limited and they lacked the passion which went into the main courses.
My advice is if you are in the area it is worth a detour, because you will enjoy some inspired cooking. As it is so popular, it is advisable to book in advance.

Called in for lunch and so glad we did.
We booked and on arrival was given a table which we didn't really want and it was no problem at all (I Hope) for the lovely staff to re arrange a table with the perfect view.
My husband ordered one of there own brewed beers and he said it was spot on.
For our meal he ordered the Lamb and I had the steak.
The only thing I can say is we wished we had a extra week to stay in this lovely part of the world as we would have come back again & again until we tried everything on the menu as our meals were faultless.
Service by staff & owner (Wendy) also a credit to this fine establishment.
Complements to the chef.
Will be back sooner than later to Denmark just for more of your food and fantastic Service. Great job to all.
And oh the view is that extra bit special now that tree has gone...

This cafe' was recommended by a local and we were so pleased we decided to go there for lunch.
We sat outside on a table with our dog as did other dog owners.
We both ordered a Beef Wrap and coffee.
This wrap was the best we have ever had. The wrap home made, and very tasty. There was plenty of filling and altogether this dish was thoroughly enjoyed by us both.
The coffee as good as we have ever had.
Would certainly go back if we could have stayed longer in town.
Country towns can have exceptional food and coffee. Don't miss this great cafe'.

Located on a picturesque rural property in William bay, the factory is a place where visitors are welcome to stay a while. Everything is made on site & you may even be able to watch the little elves hard at work through the viewing windows. There are lots of samples to tempt you & the products are available in varying quantities & styles of packaging, designed either to take home as the perfect gift or to eat now - if you cant wait!! You are welcome to stay & enjoy The lovely surroundings, maybe even have a cider in the garden, stay for lunch or enjoy one of Australias bigge4st 7 best cones.

18klm west of Denmark on South Coast Highway lies The Toffee Factory. Looks as though the build/s were thrown together haphasardly with all manner of items laying about at the entrance. Being in relatively close proximity to another attraction - Elephant Rocks, there has been an attempt to use this as a theme for this 'attraction' and incorporating it into the name of the shop. In our view it hasn't worked very well. However that aside the toffee and sauces sold in the shop are quite good. Sample tasting is available for all relishes, chutneys and sauces. The same goes for some of the flavoured toffees.
We ordered two of their fanciful burgers. The signage reads something along the lines of 'Best burgers in the West'. One a barramundi burger and the other a beef & slaw. The barramundi burger was excellent, apparently. The beef and slaw was disappointing. It would appear the bun had been reconstituted for it fell to pieces. The outer layer was crusty and crumbly.
Ice cream is a big seller here where a 'soft freeze' machine is used. The flavour is added into the machine for each ice cream ordered.

Curry King

Reviewed By Rebecca M - Perth, Australia

I have been here three times over the last few years and have enjoyed it every time, however this restaurant appears to have taken a turn. We were initially seated at a table with crumbs and dirty glassware on it, despite there being many clean tables available. We were then moved to a table in the main thoroughfare. I ordered the lamb korma, a dish I have had many times including at this restaurant and was disappointed to find it was very bland. I advised the lady at the counter of this when asked for feedback on paying for my meal and was told in a very rude voice that kormas are cream based curry and are not supposed to have a lot of spice or flavour. When I disputed this, the lady became very argumentative and told me in a very matter of fact tone that curries of this nature do not have much flavour if they are cream based and clearly I had not had cream based curries before. I will not be going back.

Ravens

Reviewed By swarve78 - Perth, Australia

I was in Denmark for the week and like many people, went hunting for a decent coffee, which is frequently a hit and miss affair.
The coffee in Raven was recommended by a friend and I wasn’t disappointed. Very good coffee, good service and a cool cafe area. Location by the river is also very nice.
I can’t comment on the food as I didn’t try it, but it looked a bit fancy for me!
