Dear tourist, hostel "Las Olas" is placed on a hill side over looking lake Titicaca. From any of the eleven suites you have a marvellous view over the bay and the lake. You have spacious gardens with hammocks and deck chairs on the different terraces leading down the hill side. On our grounds you can use a fire place and we have several stone tables and benches to eat outside to enjoy the views. For those who love plants and flowers, you will find an enormous variety of predominantly local species. All suites have been individually designed, using as many natural and local materials as possible and respecting traditional ways of construction. They provide a maximum comfort and you will find many artistic details for the eye. From your living room area, from your bed and almost from any point of your room you have a perfect view of the lake through the huge window fronts. Each suite is provided with a small kitchen unit, private bath an inside hammock and a fireplace. There is also a little electric heater for your use We do a big effort to work very ecological. The cabins are built with a complete heat insulation of polystyrene inside the roof, as well as in the walls below the facade. We preheat the water with big solar panels and than feed it into the electric boiler to guarantee very hot water 24 hours a day. We recycle all our washing machine water with an automatic sprinkler to wet our extensive gardens, and we also collect any plastic or glass bottle left behind to be recycled.

Reviewed By tannerinaisaI've never stayed at a place that had so much care put into it. Looks like somewhere I could spend a whole week on my honeymoon. Staff were very friendly, view and buildings were amazing. The price was pretty comparable to some of the other hotels I checked out in that area up the hill, but in the quality there was just no comparison.

The rooms were lovely, hot water and clean. And the staff were very thoughtful, speaking many languages and helping us with our stuff. The views from the hotel were beautiful, I can’t imagine staying anywhere In Copacabana other than on the hillside, looking over the shoreline. The best part were the gardens! If you’ve been travelling a while and don’t want to chill in a hostel room any longer than look no further than La Cupula. We loved the opportunity to sit in the beautiful gardens in the sun to chill in the hammocks with the alpacas!!

Of course you check Tripadvisor and a few other sites before finally making your decision. But still, you never know. If you by chance are going to La Paz in Bolivia, trust me on this: Stay at Hotel Sagarnaga. You will not be disappointed. Good prices, really nice staff, clean comfortable rooms and perfectly situated in the city. Most staff speak really good English and they understand service. Breakfast is simple but good enough for you to make it until lunch. Also, should you have any desires to climb a mountain, ride a bike, go on a bustour to Lake Titicaca etc you have several agencies of which Jiwaki would be one I would recommend just 10-50 meters from the hotel. And yes, La Paz is situated at 3700 masl and you might, no, you should be very careful upon arrival and give it at least 48 hrs of rest before you attempt any kind of activity. Hence Hotel Sagarnaga: Within 60 seconds distance you have ATM´s, Money exchange, Good restaurants, small stores to buy your water to have in the hotel room while you rest and try to get oxygen into your lungs. In other words, Hotel Sagarnaga offers you a perfect infrastructure to get comfortable and catch your breath.

I traveled for 3 months through South America and this place is tied for my #1 favorite lodging. The great things included: very comfortable rooms and beds, amazing breakfasts, gourmet dinners from the restaurant (the owner Zac is also a chef), the nice staff, and the DVD collection (each room has a DVD player). They have a library of hundreds of DVDs to borrow. I was traveling solo and liked that it was easy to meet other guests. Zac treated me like an old friend and even gave me a tour of the hotel and shared with me the renovations he did. I hope to return there one day. I highly recommend.

Great Place but with some downfalls
Reviewed By curioustraveller104The location was good. The room was clean and comfortable. The shower was hot. The front staff were friendly. The front staff said breakfast would start at 7am, but when we went at 7am, nothing was ready and we really needed to go on a tour. One night we came home late from our tour, and the hotel staff could not help us to order any food delivery, which I felt that they could have helped with because we don't understand spanish. Unless you are lucky, expect a room with a window facing the corridor. Meaning that your curtains have to remain closed all the time. Not an issue for us because we were out of the rooms most of the time and only slept there but it would be an issue for those people facing daylight.

Reviewed By 997M2The hotel matches the description and the other positive reviews. Clean, good size rooms, good bed, good breakfast (considering it's a small place), helpful owners. Regarding the location: it's about 40 minutes away from the airport. It's fairly close to the all-important cable car (nearest cable car station is about 350m away and, roughly, it feels like going up a 14 storey building to get to it). The big bonus is that the hotel is at a much lower altitude than the airport (~3380 m instead of 4050m) and that it's in a quiet and relatively less polluted area of La Paz.

First post-Pandemic visit
Reviewed By fcbbhkgI have been a continuous guest at this fine hotel since many years. In my first stay in a long time, I felt welcome as always, actually more. The hotel welcomed me back and let me feel at home away from home again. I was with my family, so it was more than getting back home, it was getting to a home, with friends. Roomservice to the Residence Suite was quick and impecable, I enjoyed it a lot with my family, Social Distance rules are easy to keep with this service, which I can highly recommend. Ammenity touches with biosecurity material are very nice. Overall hotel is same as usual, with the exception that due to slowdown, not all services / restaurants were open, but that does not really matter. The important thing is to see that Hotel Europa is going on and welcoming visitors. Many hotels in La Paz have shut down completely, or not reopened yet. I can persuade anyone reading this message, to go to Hotel Europa in La Paz, specially if their destinations are in the center of the city. Even if the destinations are not in the city center, the modern cable car system is only some steps away, and in a breeze you can be at other corners of the city, in a cheap, efficient and also clean public transportation system. Reliable taxis, with drivers I have known since years, are also at the front door, ready to give biosafe rides to where one needs them. Central heating, floor heating, was always great and gives a reason to enjoy the room even more. To the management, if you read this message, congratulations, in this difficult time, you are doing a fine job in the reactivation.

Stellar Old Guard. Good people
Reviewed By topchefstableA property beginning to show it's need for a number of updates. This is not faulting the property because the people do an amazingly good job. The desk people go beyond call of duty to assist with anything required including ordering food as necessary. There is no restaurant as it is an Apartment Hotel with facilities if so inclined. A corner Mini-Market is close by and there are various food outlets close as well. A tram station is just around the corner and taxi's are always available. Many corporations send people here because the staff are extremely attentive. It is across a small park for your morning walk. We have been here a few times and found the property will be fighting against the many new hotels recently built and those still to come. This is a traditional property and is good for long stays with the apartment size rooms. No complaints.
