The hostel is an old house with lots of atmosphere localized in the historical centre in Sucre. It used to be the home of our grandparents and is now totally restored and upgraded to modern standards. We have single, double and triple rooms all with private bathrooms. We serve breakfast and during the day you can make your own coffee or small snack at our guest kitchen in the courtyard. You can also visit the art gallery where local artists share their creativity and inspiration with us. If you enjoy cooking you are also welcome to use our traditional Andean stone oven. The smells and flavors are unique and its perfect to make everything from bread to pizza to meat and vegetables. The Hostal's ambience is really nice and comfy and you only walk a few minutes to the main plaza. We really enjoyed our stay here!

Reviewed By Dom_B1616El Jardin de su Merced really is a treasure! The place is very clean, the garden is amazing to relax and enjoy a view across the city! The bed was very comfortable, the shower big and had nice hot water with great pressure (we had almost forgotten how nice this feels). Overall, our greatest and only regret was that we stayed only one night - next time it will be longer!

Reviewed By alix sWhat an amazing hotel! The owner, Mabel, is warm and attentive, like all of the people from Villa Abécia. The hotel is full of interesting curios and Mabel is an accomplished historian so there is a story to be told in each corner of this beautifully renovated house. Vineyards, jacuzzi and swimming pool at the door, the town is a 15 minute walk away, singani and wine abound.

Reviewed By Thomas DIncredibly warm welcome with very comfortable rooms, a nice small walk into town and just across the road from the beautiful parque boliviar. Came home sick and they went out of their way to help us and brought us a big jug of hot mate de coca. Couldn't have asked for kinder people.

But... we got a room that was poorly cleaned - a lot if hair on the bathroom floor + the smell of a sewer + a dirty comb on the shelf. Clean sheets, but also a lot of hair on the bedroom floor as well. And the worst thing was the stink of cigarette in the room (and ash in one of the drawers). Shower was ok, with hot water. Breakfast was typical Bolivian - fruit yes, eggs - no.

The Hostelling Bustillo its located four blocks from 25 de Mayo Square, in the center of the city, its a new building, that it counts with all the the amenities, like Led TVs, Wi-Fi in the rooms, Breakfast service, loundry, international calls, security sistems in the whole building, besaid that, counts with qualified, and polite personal, the prices are affordable to everyone, and we are proud of the cleanness of the hotel becouse we want our guests to feel confortable.

Some negatives to be aware of - Breakfast is standard continental fare but given the price that is fine - Wifi is non existing in the room and very slow in the reception area. Seems typical for Bolivian hostals. Get an Entel sim card for fast internet speed and problem is solved - There is a some sort of sports / practice ground next door so it can get noisy during the day, e.g. band marching practice. Quiet at night But overall the room was excellent and much better than another hostel I stayed at in Sucre. Would recommend.

Scam on the 13% tax
Reviewed By 932clairev1/ They tried to charge us with the 13% tax on the bill. Foreign tourists do not pay the 13% IVA hotel tax in Bolivia!! They know it and fortunately we know it too ! We argued the tax and had it removed from the bill but it's no fun having to do that and quite sad for a hotel of this standard (at least in price) to scam clients. 2/ If you are looking for a nicely decorated room, go for it they are really nice. If you are looking to sleep in them, that's another story. The street is very noisy even with ear plugs. When the noise from the street quietens down at night, then it's the music from the restaurant that you will hear.
