We can't fault this small friendly restaurant. The food was delicious & beautifully presented & the service by both waiters was efficient, friendly & they made excellent recommendations. It was so good we went back the next night & if anything it was even better. Make sure you book as it is always busy & they turned so many people away.

Really enjoyed our visit to this charming restaurant! The owner was really committed and friendly and introduced us to the Basque food. We tried the buffet with lots of different, tasty Basque "tapas" (with a twist of Madagascar), three different main courses and a variety of desserts. Loved La Tarte Basque! Wine, beer, soft drinks and coffee were included in the price and also a small glass of homemade liquor which the owner offered us after finishing our meal. Can warmly recommend this restaurant in Bidart!

Not really expecting much on a cool January Monday afternoon, but once inside we loved it. Good friendly service, fine range of drinks and an interesting menu. We chose some tapas, including fabulous delicate pork charcuterie, a brilliant fried egg with cheese and ham mini sandwiches (similar to soldiers for those Brits who know what these are) to dip into the lovely soft yoke. Best of all was the Chipirones a la Plancha, wonderfully tasty...It's in a good location a minute from the sea and has lots of atmosphere. Recommended very highly.

Located in a former railway station, the chef and his brigade seem to not have been inspired by the lack of precision of the French rail... His cuisine is on the contrary impeccable. Variety of tastes, surprising layouts and combinations of ingredients for a locally inspired menu. A delight to look and taste. Special marks for the home-brewed flavoured spirits which make the cocktail stand out. A dinner worth every minute lost in trying to find a parking space in this tiny, yet highly popular village.

Really good home made food and really friendly service. We were greeted at the door and felt looked after all through the meal. Its a relaxed 'non bling' environment with a surf shack feel. Burgers, salads, cocktails and the best gâteau basque ever tasted! I would definitely go back!

If you can find your way to this restaurant--a considerable challenge--you'll have one of the best meals in the region. I disagree with a previous reviewer who claimed the cuisine was unimaginative. I thought it was interesting, refined, and... imaginative! The setting is also a treat: large windows making for a luminous dining room, well-spaced tables, and lovely views. The best among the 5-6 Michelin starred restaurants in the Biarritz area at which I dined recently.

Stayed here for two nights hoping for great things after reading reviews, we had been hotel hopping for 8 days around Northern Spain and decided to stop here on our way back home to the Charente it is a lovely area to visit. The hotel was pleasant enough and the reception very friendly we checked in late afternoon and were looking forward to dinnerIn the adjoining restaurant,so we decided to chill out in our room which was not over large but had a balcony with views of the sea just about and the mountains, very pleasant.Later we got ready for dinner went down stairs only to be told that the restaurant was closed on Tuesday's very disappointing as you can imagine, so we decided to eat in the Bistro also attached to the hotel! Think again that was shut also, we were told we could find good restaurants in the town just a fifteen minute walk away! We were not impressed, fortunately it wasn't raining. Our room was a Superior Room so we were informed, the bed was very comfy although the duvet was for a king size bed and this was a super king, if you sat up in bed you ended up wearing the bedside lights! The bathroom was roomy and fairly modern but the bath was very slippery and there were no handrails to hold on to, there was a shower rose but no fitting on the wall to support itAnd the sink was blocked! The toilet was separate in a fair size room for a wc so why the toilet paper dispenser was positioned under your left hand armpit I just don't understand. We never did try the restaurant because the breakfast was so poor we thought that the restaurant would be similar. Why would a hotel serve pre frozen burnt croissant and the day before bread rolls heated up for 12 euro when there is a bakers only two minutes away.Dears Sirs,Again, thank you for sharing your experience as you did on Booking.com. We truly wished you had share your opinion with us directly during your stay and not only after all and online. Maybe we could have done something in order to improve your satisfaction? Maybe a different room or different bedding? There is always something we can do. Please be sure we want full satisfaction of our guests, but, in order to do it, we do need some information from them. Two points we want to clarify: first able, the bistrot and the restaurant share the same kitchen, which is closed on Tuesdays. That is why both restaurants are closed on the same day. Again, you never mentioned dinner and just wanted to quickly install in you room.Second able, our chef cooks homemade “Viennoiserie” we are sorry you like the industrial ones better. Please accept our sincerest apologizes for this unpleasant stay. We believe we did our best. Our mistake. We’ll be more alert next time. Best regards, Ibarboure

We ate here twice during our stay in Guethary (and probably would have gone again but they shut for 4 days at the end of the season). Unpretentious but delicious, inventive gastronomic cuisine. Friendly and welcoming staff and amazing chef (who is World runner up for his famous Pate en Croute). Loved the duck with truffle flakes, marinaded tuna, pate en Croute, poisson maigre & fish stew with consomme. Yum! Don't miss this if you're in the region - we'll be going back!

Apéritif downstairs with some tapas and enjoyable view.Diner upstairs, food was good so was the service. We had heard such great comments about the place, and had probably higher expectations then it was delivered. It was more average then amazing with a couple of pricy dishes.
