We chose to take a guided tour of the lettuce farm and conservatory, and a guided hike. It was a great way to spend an afternoon away from the crowds. The conservatory was beautiful and well-kept with many native plantings. The hydroponic farm was very impressive in its size and our guides Dean and Josiany were very knowledgeable. There were great island views from numerous spots along the somewhat strenuous hike - good shoes and water are a must, but you can rest as needed and enjoy the views. The tours and hike took about 3 hours, but there was one section of the trail we couldn't do because of recent rain. We will probably go back again for both the hike and the gardens in a couple years.

The 100% natural 40 acres of the Carambola Botanical Gardens and their many jungle trails offer a perfect place for hiking, wildlife and scenic photography, eco tours, bird watching, nature studies, and of course, relaxation. We love this place but wish it had frequent visitors discounts. We love the hikes and the information on the plants we see around Roatan.

I have visited here a few times and it is best when everything is blooming. It's still nice at any time of the year. There are benches in several areas to sit and relax in the jungle. The plants and trees are identified with signs and I was given a map of the garden. I was even invited to eat a banana from the plant at the entrance. Remember to use bug spray especially if it is humid.

This is a charming place, with nice food, wine and a perfect view. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful - the owners were equally charming. If you are driving, be aware that the last mile or more is on a dirt road - but well worth it for the view.
