“Luxury” hotel in Monterrico
Reviewed By Midland98We rented two bungalows for two nights in November 2021. This is one of the most expensive places to stay in Monterrico and it is a beautiful property but we did find some shortcomings. Room 8 had a good A/C unit and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was less than expected for the price. There were electric shower heads installed but no longer functioning. Cool shower in the morning but the drain was very slow and the water surrounded my feet quickly. The second night revealed several peeping guests hiding in the thatched roof. Feces from the visitors were found on one of the beds and on top of the room safe in the morning. Room 9 was occupied by my two adult children and our two grandchildren. Pretty much the same set up as room 8 except they also enjoyed a bat flying in the room and several loud peeping guests somewhere in the thatched roof. Feces were found in several places by morning. The beds had only sheets and no blankets. The room phone was also missing. The front desk was notified about the bat and feces on the beds. Someone came to look but did not even remove the droppings. It was not until checkout that they realized that blankets were even provided. No compassion from front desk staff for sure. The beach area was fairly filthy with garbage strewn about. We have stayed at other properties in Monterrico where the beach area was cleaned up by hotel staff in the mornings. Perhaps Dos Mundos could learn from their competitors. The food was mediocre for the price but I did enjoy their Italian entrees. The drinks from the bar seemed to contain very little alcohol. Beer is your best bet here. The pools were very nice but we discovered broken glass under one of the tables in the morning just minutes before my barefoot grandchildren showed up. Will probably stay somewhere else next time we make our way there.

Bed broke
Reviewed By Backpack321In general a nice place but the bunk bed broke. The guy above me just turned around in his bed and two of the wooden panels fell down on me. The boss did not bother at all and still made us pay the full price. Being a good manger includes taking measurements in difficult situations too.

Definitely a hiddem gem in Guatemala
Reviewed By 530maxiHun Nal Ye represents an area with a single hotel that is approximately 2 hours away from Coban. You can catch a direct bus at the Northern terminal. When exiting the bus, its about a 10-15 minute walk until you reach the park. While most local tourist come to spend a day here, my friend and I decided to also spend the night there. The area is gorgeous and the facilities are in a very good condition. Our room consisted of two beds and a bathroom with a great hot shower. Hun Nal Ye offers many different activities ranging from the beautiful lagoons including zip lining and a waterfall, to tubing (around 20-30 minutes on your own), horse riding (the horses are super in shape and well trained so that you can ride them yourself) and rowing and fishing on their little lake. Their is definitely enough to do on two days. They even offer a canopy activity that is however additionally charged for. The menu is rather limited, but good and for us sufficient. You might have troubles as a vegan person. We can definitely recommend their burger! Overall, definitely a hidden gem in Guatemala simply because of the most beautiful nature.

Enjoy the silence of Jaibalito at Lake Atitlan, which you only can reach by boat. We offer clean but cheap rooms for 1 to 6 people. We provide local meals for a fee and bake our own bread. We are located in the center of Jaibalito. For long-term visitors houses are available for rent.
Dissapointing
Reviewed By kimberleyt589We heard about this place from a few sources, so we decided to check it out. The food was okay, but you quickly lose your appetite due to all the animals in close Proximity to your table. We had at least 4 dogs begging from us, dirty and rough looking cat kept jumping on our laps while we ate, my husband was scratched trying to remove the cat from his lap, ducks and chickens roam all over, my son was disgusted watching chickens crapping while he ate his chicken, dogs tenderly nibbled their itchy faces a few feet away from our table. Overall a yucky dining experience. Please keep the animals away from the dining area! We have been In Guatemala for almost two weeks now and have never encountered this before.

Reviewed By ceciliat437We enjoyed our trip to San Juan Acul in Quiche. Hacienda San Antonio, is located near the village of Acul, it is sorrounded by green mountains. The rooms are clean and the meals served are tasty. We liked very much looking the sunrise.

Reviewed By Jeff HI spent a day here on a scouting trip for an NGO I work with. To get here you take a pleasant, short boat ride from the public dock for Q10. Marmaya is a large complex of rooms and suites with air conditioning located on a beautiful and unspoiled beach. The restaurant area is under a thatch roof with a complete menu and bar. No price gouging here, even though it is remote. If you need to see the ocean, play in the surf, swim in one of their five salt water pools and enjoy thier trademark ceviche....this is a good destination.

Reviewed By simpangratisExcellent service considering the remoteness of the location. Glad though that i started with Yaxha before moving on to Tikal. The food is above par, the bed comfortable, the dog is very sweet and there is a bonus old crocodile hang out by the pier. They arranged the guide and the transportation from Airport and to tikal (for extra but reasonable charges). The food price is not exagerated. We enjoy our one day stay.

Reviewed By ZiplineProGreat little hotel. A bit dated but that was expected. Super nice staff as they were very helpful! Breakfast was fresh and good. Location was great for walking to restaurants and just across the road from the lake twitch the sunset:-) Mosquitos were very bad!! Bring repellant!!
