our room not cleaned at all
Reviewed By RRuk2011the bed was made, but there was a huge amount of dirt (of many different types) on the carpet, it cannot have been cleaned properly for ages. There was hair, including pubic hair in the barth, and the toilet had not been cleaned properly. Of course we changed rooms, which they vacuumed for us - and it took a while suggesting it was not already clean. Quite a large hotel with facilities that may sund good but... AVOID

Asimba Guest House is a family home with 3 rooms for guests designed and owned by Chris and Saba and set in a pleasant relaxing garden located close to the city centre. Saba's family roots are in Tigray and as the Tigray skies seemed always to be blue, the climate beautifully warm all year round and the air clear and unpolluted, we decided to build a retirement home in Mekelle. It took some time to achieve the final result but we have a home that is light and airy with spacious rooms and a practical layout that should appeal to friends, relatives and guests on their first visit and hopefully make them want to return. With only 3 guest rooms we are able to give personal attention to all our guests. We strive to make them welcome and feel comfortable, to enjoy their stay and, through our knowledge and contacts with various tour operators, we can assist them to make the most out of their stay in Mekelle and trips to nearby attractions.
Excellent guest house and superb hosts
Reviewed By TripsgalloreChris & Saba gave us a warm welcome; lovely location down a quieter street. Breakfast was brilliant, warm bread, eggs how you like them, lovely home-made jams. ..... just fab. Chris was also very helpful in terms of the city, and what restaurants to eat in. Very clean - our trainers were even cleaned on our return from the Danekil! Thoroughly recommend this gem! We have put this as a mid-range priced guest house but only in terms of Ethiopia - you'd never find anything of the same quality for the price in the UK

After a 13-hour drive from Lalibela, my heart sank slightly as we realised the hotel was on a great big roundabout...however we were allocated a room at the side/back of the hotel and it was quiet. We scored almost the same room - just on the opposite side/back - after we'd been in the Danakil as well. There was a huge bed, several sofas, a fridge (unstocked but more to the point we could chill our water), and the best thing of all, a bath. After a long day on the road, a good soak was just what we needed! We ate in the hotel restaurant for dinner and for breakfast, where there was a good variety of food and it was all well-served. It was nice to sit in the bar in the evening as well.

He chose what to show me, the stops, the hotels and much more: all very nice and very well organized, punctual in the schedules, guides chosen with care and attention. Unfortunately all in English, which does not always make communication easy. Rates in line with other operators, a bit expensive, but really worth it. I highly recommend it!

Reviewed By SaigonDougVery clean great hospitality, restaurant more traditional than western. Prices at the restaurant are fair prices. For us breakfast was included and it was very basic. Our experience was electricity was cut off during the day. So the elevator did not work, a five story building. A very big and clean room,with an Interesting view.

THIEVES. STOLE my MONEY
Reviewed By Alex YI booked online and prepaid, and Hatsey claimed I did not make a reservation. THEY STOLE MY MONEY. I was told if I wanted a room I had to pay again for it even though I had an online reservation that said it was paid and they still would not honor it. Also, the employees barely speak English and the owner is a terrible human being and a thief. I would never recommend anybody to stay here. Terrible business, Terrible Staff, Terrible Owner.

Reviewed By LouinethiopiaAbebu Pension is clean, welcoming and has wifi and hot water. We stayed here because other hotels were full, but were glad we did. We paid 650 birr for 1 double and 1 single room for 1 night, so good value too. No food or drink, but centrally located and lots of breakfast options around.
