The Safari Lodge has set itself apart as a luxury oasis. It’s sat amidst a forest of lush mango and avocado trees, with green manicured gardens and an overflowing king size swimming pool. It’s only 45 minutes away from the capital Addis Ababa and enjoys close proximity to a number of different tourist destinations such as the Sordore Hot Springs and the Awash National Park. Far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city, this resort hotel offers a peaceful and relaxing environment for both business and leisure travelers. It sits a short distance away from the main road and is well known as a quiet and convenient place to relax, have a delicious meal and captivating stay. The modern decor and creative use of contemporary building materials creates an inviting and tranquil ambiance. The Safari Lodge offers spacious suites, (each with their own living room) and a range of family standalone cottages.

Secluded seduction

The Safari Lodge Resort in Adama Ethiopia was an exceptional experience for many reasons but mostly because it’s genuine hospitality. This locally owned and operated quiet oasis is top value given its location and secluded location and feel of oneness. Noting that the resort is situated close and far enough the main road and activities that you feel you have escaped into a tropical paradise. This was a prefect retreat for my family while we was exploring more of Oromo and making our way south to Adama and staying at the Safari Lodge. Adjoined rooms with a practical floor plan to give new visitors a villa style experience as the rooms feel complete with their own patio and partitioned bedroom that leads to the family area and full size comfort room with bath tub. The restaurant has a welcome and open feel to it with high ceilings and giant windows and a lounge area with swank-y pool table waiting for a game of 8-BALL/ The food menu is basic items for now that is prepared with fresh ingredients and priced for the new local middle-class that makes up the reachable market within Ethiopia. As the resort itself is much dated but well maintained and cared for and cared about which makes it cozy-and welcoming for new guest. The pool is cleaned every morning and the ground keeper loves his garden and landscaped areas which show pride and care. Each the rooms and linen are cleaned and changed daily and everything works including the electrical sockets and hot water All for less than $30USD a night with breakfast included while being served and waited on by staff members who go the full distance in regards to taking orders and making you feel welcomed and appreciated for your patronage. Sharing that our stay was made satisfied by the prompt action and attention to detail of each staff member including real smiles and the friendliness that makes “All things Ethiopia” a new original in African hospitality. Proving again that the new generation is “un-stoppable” in courage and promise for achieving high marks and international standards regarding hospitality for foreign visitors coming to the “Land of Origins” via Ethiopia. Thus making Ethiopia a sensational transit hub for business and tourist seeking to be part the new excitement that is occurring in East Africa~

Not bad for a lunch stop during a long day of driving

Reviewed By ModernWanderers

We came here for lunch with a group of 23. The property was quite unlike what we’d seen of the rest of Ethiopia so far. Meals were decent and served quickly, including a fabulous buffet lunch for 260 birr per person. Staff were friendly and spoke good English. Come here for fancy clean toilets with tp and decent wifi!!

Rift Valley Hotel

Rift Valley hotel, AKA Caneth hotel. Nice base for exploration to Dhera Park and onwards.

Reviewed By Annika J

This hotel is located in central Adama is easy to find and is known by the name Rift Valley Hotel, although it is called Caneth hotel on the sign. The hotel has a nice semi-outside or outside restaurant. Service was by Ethiopian standards fast, normal pasta-dishes and Ethiopian dishes. OK breakfast buffet, firfir, eggs at your choice, almost no dairy products. Rooms in adjacent complex are large, clean, nice bedding, and some have malaria nets. Probably used for conferences. Bed-lamps and electricity from sockets was working, and the shower was good. Depending on traffic you reach Adama from Addis Abeba in 2-4 hours and therefore we used this hotel as a base for a trip to Dhera Park and Bale Mountains taking of at lunch-time from Addis. Breakfast was ready for us next morning at 6:30 and we could take off. A plus to the staff for taking care of a forgotten charger that we picked up on the way back. This is definitively one very safe and good hotel in Ethiopia.

Asefa Sisay: Africa's best guide?

Reviewed By Angus_and_I

Absolutely brilliant 10 days with Asefa, he is the best guide in maybe all of Africa? He is a careful and safe driver. His knowledge of Ethiopia is encyclopedic and he is fun to be with. Asafa took the time to explain complicated issues, but also did not press us if we didn't show interest. We would strongly recommend him to any traveler wanting to get to know the real Ethiopia. He is an independent guide and not tied to any company. Therefore you can say you want Asefa which ever company you book with. Asefa made an enormous contribution to the enjoyment of our holiday.

Well it could have been worse...

Reviewed By kgoeldner

My room had plenty of space, and an appropriate amount of furniture for that space-- a small writing desk, and small sitting area, in addition to the bed. (Sometimes they try to put too much furniture in a room for no apparent reason.) The room was clean, and shower had enough hot water. Internet was better than a lot of places I've stayed in Ethiopia, but still was frustrating at times. The breakfast room/restaurant was really uninspiring and dark, although the cookstaff made me some food despite the fact there was no electricity, so I was very grateful. That said, when the electricity is off, you may end up walking up 10 flights to get to your room. Fine if you want the exersize. The worst bit was the noise really. I couldn't beleive how noisy it was (I was on the 5 or 6th floor). Even to work I needed to put in my earplugs and I can work in busy airports without a problem. The whole time I was there I wondered why it had the name it did...
