The wood-fired pizza oven produces the best pizza you can have without imported ingredients, and the kitchen produces decent chicken and pasta dishes. At lunch, there is outdoor Seating under trees, and at dinner they will place a brazier full of coals from pizza over near your seat to keep you warm. Just keep your expectations reasonable and you will be happy.

Excellent value, extremely friendly helpful waiters, and delicious food.
These guys make the best Shiro Tegamino I've tasted in all of Ethiopia. They also make a great goat soup.
I went to Karibu Kitchen (the best restaurant in Mek'ele according to reviews on tripadvisor) and frankly I consider it pretty overpriced. Both times I went to Abay Cultural Restaurant there were no other travellers but plenty of locals. It was definitely the best restaurant I found in Mek'ele.
To find Abay Cultural Restaurant: Walk North along Hahefen St; turn right just after Zebra Cafe; there's a green sign pointing down the first left turn; follow this alley past the bingo-players and it's on your right.

Beef MN Garden is a new café/restaurant in the middle of Makalle. It has a completely open plan, without walls except to the street, with some of the Seating outside in the courtyard and some under the roofed portion. The open plan provides a pleasant atmosphere. The kitchen is open, there is a bar, the food was good and Ethiopian coffee is available. There is a huge TV screen for those who want to watch football. Beef MN Garden is a welcome addition to the eating options in the middle of Makalle.

Очень приличное место. Мы попали в Великий Пост, поэтому все блюда были только вегетарианские, хотя ресторан мясной. Были два раза: днем и вечером. Первый раз взяли пиво и инджеру с закусками. Стаканы под пиво официантка сначала прополоскала только что открытым пивом. Блюдо было приятно оформлено. Вечером взяли красное вино Гоудер (кстати, дрянное) и опять то же блюдо. Второй раз оформление было плохим, но на качество не повлияло. Инджеру добавляют бесплатно по мере съедания закусок. Очень дешево: пиво 30 руб, еда на троих 100 руб.
