May 4, 2023 Enedina Augsburger

An enigmatic treasure trove of almost unimaginable archaeological and cultural riches, it's hard not to think of Egypt without imagining the Sphinx, the pyramids at Giza, Luxor, the Valley of the Kings and the Nile. As well as being the world's largest open-air museum, Egypt also offers a slew of luxurious Red Sea resorts, many within reach of spectacular snorkeling, diving and windsurfing. Whether you see it by riverboat, from camelback or from just above the coral, Egypt's sights are unforgettable.

Marsa Shagra

Located just 40km South of Marsa Alam airport, Marsa Shagra is the largest and most well-known of our locations. It boasts one of the most beautiful house reefs in the Red Sea, thanks to the strict environmental protection we enforce in the village. The unlimited diving concept on the house reef offers a unique opportunity to dive with absolute freedom and flexibility, which is what attracts divers to Marsa Shagra. With over 20 nearby dive sites on our regular diving program, including the world-famous Elphinstone and Marsa Abu Dabab, divers are spoilt for choice and can expect to encounter the very best marine life that the Red Sea has to offer. Marsa Shagra is the perfect introduction to diving in the Southern Red Sea.

This place really hits the mark for divers and snorkelers but is a little overpriced

Obviously diver and snorkeler orientated this is a great place if that’s what you are looking for. Stay away if you want wild parties and jet skis as they don’t have either. Great house reefs and access to nearby reefs - elphinstone and abu dabab - by rib but not for the faint hearted or beginners. Good and plentiful food buffet style. Pizzas and steaks to order and beer available! My hut was perfectly adequate and cool but not en suite. Bed and pillows comfortable but all at higher prices than other similar resorts but the price does include diving and full board/soft drinks. Staff were generally helpful and all spoke some English and many spoke French and German. Of note were the dive guides Tareq and Ezz along with Nas who washed and hung my kit and even disinfected it at the end of the week. A great chilled experience I will repeat.

Ineffable

This will be my second time with Badry at the White Desert. The last time was a group of 18 during November 2019. This speaks to the level and volume of trust I have in Badry for any excursion I need to do for my groups in this part of the world. What I find most remarkable about Egypt’s Sahara el Beyda (aka the White Desert) isn’t simply how unreal and beautiful its landscapes are, but the fact many of us — let alone the majority of the Western world — had no idea such a place existed until the moment we laid eyes on it in person for the very first time. For example, it’s one thing to have seen countless photos of the Great Pyramids as a child and then see them in person; like a dream come true. It’s another, however, to see something nearly as — if not more grand in scope without having any expectation of its actual existence until you’re there in person. This time without a dream or expectation to precede something just as surreal … that’s something else. It therefore humbles me to return here and re-appreciate how even if we *think* we know or have access to lists of all of the world’s “most beautiful places,” there are entire regions like the White Desert to show us that we really don’t know how much more is out there for us to discover, dream, and explore in this lifetime. If what used to be the ocean floor is now a desert of of large white chalk rock formations created through countless years of erosion by wind and sand, we are but stardust living a present miracle of bearing witness to not only a remote physical place on Earth but also a remote place in Time.

A very chill stay?

Reviewed By Ghada B

Great place to chill and relax all day long!! The studios were very clean and air conditioned, the food was really nice too. I don't recommend going there in august/end of July because it's very hot there, unless you can spend the whole day in the water then you'll be fine. There's a great snorkeling spot but don't forget a sea shoes it's essential there. Thank you Ananda for the great place I will definitely be going again.

SakraTah Camp

Sakratah, Home of Souls, Wanderland ,Mount ,sea and us against the world . We always believed that Sakratah has one code, the secret code. You may visit as much as you can and you will never feel a spirit of a place like here. #We will let you discover this by inviting you to reconnect and share the joyful state we all seek for. You arrive a wander and leave as a part of the place precisely like you left your heart there . We don't offer hospitality, we offer a new experience , Home , Family

The place that enchants you to stay!

Reviewed By 12sally14

Your mind, body & soul will rest & be pampered by Sakrata’s hosts every moment of your stay. The place’s motto is: Do whatever makes you happy! “Sakrata” means “secretly/hidden” in Egyptian Arabic slang & it actually is a hidden gem amidst this beach’s strip of camps. Here you will fuse with nature & will explore both your inner self & the beauty of your surroundings. You will literally be able to “pause, breathe & recharge”. Bassant & Ahmed live onsite & sincerely make you feel like family; not just a passing guest. Sherine, the third partner, comes & goes like sunshine & you’d be very lucky to meet her there because she is such a great optimist, who spreads positive vibes all over the place. Service is that good to the extent that your wishes will literally become true BEFORE you even say them out loud! Needless to say, the food is just magnificently unexplainable! Every single day there’s another set of exquisitely delicious home cooked food during mealtimes, so if your intentions are to detox or diet, you’d be very much tempted not to do so (just a disclaimer). Bassant also prepares all kinds of dietary needs & restrictions; all you need to do is inform her! A variety of activities are available depending on your interests (e.g. books from all over the world to read, kayaks for either rowing or just chilling there in the middle of the sea, board games, volleyball net, speedball, etc.). You are very welcome to bring your own entertainment equipment or just simply chill there & do nothing (which is mostly what’s recommended). I personally enjoy handcrafts, so Bassant & Ahmed actually designated a whole seating area in the main hut for my workshop! The huts are made of wood & palm leaves so they are sturdy, eco-friendly & temperature resilient. Each hut has a small porch & is equipped with a door hanger, mosquito nets (they work like magic!), clean bedsheets & blankets upon request during summer & naturally during winter. Main bathroom is noticeably clean & always has toilet paper & soap available. The whole camp operates on solar energy & the owners are very aware of the environment & nature preservation, starting with recycling all available resources (e.g. no leftovers are ever thrown away, plastic products are always cycled up, etc.) till respecting all creation living onsite (except for the vicious flies & mosquitoes of course!). All pets are celebrated here, no doubt! & if you don’t have one or couldn’t travel with yours, Bahr, Bahareya & Buddy (the owners’ dogs) will enable you to live that experience! Make sure you remember to get beach shoes with you, because all coral reefs of the belonging beach are reserved except for a naturally induced pathway of rocks you use to get into the sea. Along the beach there are all kinds of shaded seating areas, beach chairs, hammocks, a couple of showers & a swing! All in all, be prepared to extend your stay at Sakrata Camp &/or decide to never leave!

well managed and very good value

Reviewed By vikramahl79

This is probably the best value accommodation in Dahab. Selection of rooms - small and basic with shared bathrooms, ensuites, and more spacious ensuites with balconies. There's two bedouin-style social areas offering shade, plus a couple of benches in the sun. There's a rudimentary kitchen with two fridge-freezers, stove and pans etc. with a new one being built as I write - should be ready in the next few weeks. FREE drinking water (huge bonus, especially if you hate to waste plastic) and a washing machine for guests' use. The place is kept clean and is well managed. Staff and owner are friendly and responsible. There's cats in the common areas (but they don't wander into the rooms). Good location in the middle of Dahab, 1 minute walk to the sea. Especially low rates for longer term stays. My room is an en suite twin with balcony. Two single beds (linen and towels provided), a desk, two chairs, mirror, bedside table, wardrobe, bathroom is fine, balcony is a nice place to relax. Wi-fi is decent most of the time. Note: there's I think three guesthouses in Dahab with the name "kangaroo" and/or "oasis". This is the one at the end of the short alleyway opposite Ali Baba restaurant. I know I sound a bit like an advert, but I'm really pleased to have found this place - been here four weeks now, relaxing, reading, writing. Their whatsapp is +201067037433

God central location with nice community

Reviewed By 724iulianab

Central location with the possibility to be walking distance to all landmarks in Dahab. There’s a space in the garden where people can gather and socialize. Rooms are placed around a central courtyard with the rooms looking onto it. Staff is nice and friendly. Disliked · Extremely dirty starting with the room, ending with the restrooms. The place needs a thorough renovation as everything is old and shabby. if you just want to be within a community and in the center of everything, then it's a good place to stay - but Dahab is so small anyway.

Getting in touch with nature..

Reviewed By erianmon

As a couple visiting in July, we took the AC huts as it was extremely hot.. AC didn’t work much, but it was better than nothing! Each hut has its own hammock, which was very cool and they all have a direct view to the most beautiful red sea waters.. The camp put a long rubber carpet in the first part of the sea for you not to hurt your feet by the corals, which makes it a very nice place to snorkel!! The food at the camp was okay, both a la carte and open buffet are available.. I think it was a very convenient experience.
