An enigmatic treasure trove of almost unimaginable archaeological and cultural riches, it's hard not to think of Egypt without imagining the Sphinx, the pyramids at Giza, Luxor, the Valley of the Kings and the Nile. As well as being the world's largest open-air museum, Egypt also offers a slew of luxurious Red Sea resorts, many within reach of spectacular snorkeling, diving and windsurfing. Whether you see it by riverboat, from camelback or from just above the coral, Egypt's sights are unforgettable.

Your average hostel. Good breakfast, poor toilets/showers.

Typical basic cheap hostel. Location is pretty good - but the entrance and elevator are very scary, due to how old the building is. Seems like it will crumble apart at any second. The hostel itself is divided on two different floors, 2nd and 4th. Staff was young and polite. We arrived there was a party going quite noisy. Showers are literally in the toilets, next to the WC. Wi-Fi worked very badly. The rooms are next to a mosque so the call for prayer in the early morning was very loud. Breakfast was very pleasant surprise, also shared in the nice living room. Overall, average hostel with young international people. But surprising if this is the best-rated in Cairo

Clean budget hotel in downtown Cairo that respects privacy

Reviewed By 318PaulH

I've been here for a couple of weeks in February 2021 with the Covid-19 pandemic still ongoing. I stayed here previously in 2006. The place has not changed much except for it now has WiFi. The Internet was quite fast. One of the reasons I chose the Roma was because it has rooms with balconies or windows you can open. Ventilation is critical during pandemics so that is not to be sneezed at. (Pun intended.) The other great thing is the staff here are very helpful but they are not trying to sell you tours. They helped me with getting my pre-flight PCR test and getting a reliable early morning driver for my BJJ lessons. A few tips. Mosquitoes are a fact of life in budget hotels in Cairo. There is a pharmacy/chemist nearby where you can get spray on repellent. Once I did that I had a better night sleep. Traffic noise and the Mosques are loud. If you are a light sleeper get earplugs. Uber and Careem drivers are difficult to find in before 0700. If you have to go somewhere early ask the staff to recommend a cab driver. This probably doesn't apply for most. If you want Brazilian Jiu Jitsu lessons Google "Anubis Martial Arts Cairo". ? I'll be back again.

The manager of this hostel is a thief. During our third night it was literally raining in our room so we were forced to move to another hotel, the employees were trying there best but their manager stopped answering their call. During the rain a big part of our clothes and stuff were wet so we lost a lot of time and we kindly asked for a reimbursement but the manager strictly refused and gave the order to not give us any cash. Like it was not enough, we’ve been threatened. Unfortunately this manager doesn’t deserve his employees and should be sanctioned.

Wonderful staff, comfortable beds, hot shower, clean, affordable price, rooftop view and good location. The staff helped us with public transportation to the pyramids, covid exams, printing documents and airport questions. Grateful for their kindness. The staff felt like good friends, they made us feel at home. We met a couple other backpackers during breakfast. It’s a nicer vibe compared to the big hostels where everything is spaced out and people/workers don’t talk to people as much. Thank you so much for everything! It was lovely chatting with you guys.
