We started our day experience at Le Life with a kayak up the local river which was not to difficult and just long enough to work up an appetite at the Le Life restaurant and bar. The bar service and staff were very accommodating and our meals were all delicious. We will definitely visit again with friends and family.

The hosts John Mark and his wife Vero were fantastic. The rooms were basic but very clean. Oddly no shelving or cupboards so did live out of a suitcase. No fridge either but got by as I did not spend any time there during the day. John did keep the bar well stocked with coldies though. Highlights were dancing around the fire every night with anyone that was there including John (that was a you had to be there night). Heading back possibly February and not even considering anywhere else. If visiting take some coloring books and pencils for the village children next to Alofa. They appreciate them and the smiles you'll get would charm the ducks of water. Mickey (from Sth Africa) if you read this get in touch.

Vanuatu Secret Garden Resort

Most amazing place I have ever stayed

Reviewed By theom432

Staying at the Secret Garden was one of the best experiences I have ever had travelling. Jenny and her family made me and my 7 friends feel so welcome and went out of their way many times to make our trip special. They were incredibly kind and generous. The food was delicious, the cabins were gorgeous, and the cultural display and museum were brilliant. It was lovely to stay somewhere locally owned and run with such a friendly atmosphere. Thank you so much Jenny!

Batis Seaside Bungalows

Second stay

Reviewed By Nicole R

We had a great second stay at Batis. Sethric, his wife Leeman, and their nephew Philip are doing a great job with the bungalows. Sethric picked us up and dropped us off at the airport, Philip cooked us lovely meals, and Leeman spent time with us at the sports matches and introduced us to their daughters and new grandchild. We stayed in the same bungalow as last time (the one with the dugong). The bungalows now have solar lights and the lights' battery has USB chargers - very handy for recharging your devices. Sethric has built a new dining bungalow, which is bigger than the original. The bungalows are kept clean and neat, and beds are comfortable. The views out to Ambrym are still beautiful, but different at night now that the lava lakes have disappeared. There's a new kava bar next door, which is worth trying. Their kava has a clean, crisp, and strong taste, and you can pick up snacks from the ladies at the bar. The other patrons are friendly and will be happy to chat with you.

Recently stayed at Tukutuk with a small group of friends for a week. Beautiful bungalows with a combined living /dining area. Clean, classy, secluded hide away on a huge farm /ranch. Clear beach at the end the path. Spotlessly clean and a wonderful escape for our group. The food was lovely ...from the land. Exquisite!

Tanna Everest Bungalows

Amazing hospitality at an unique location

Reviewed By regemorw

We stayed in this place with 4 friends in July 2015. It was a few months after the devastating passage of hurricane Pam. Despite the fact that the bungalows were damaged, they did al what could be done to give us a warm welcome. The hospitality of David Hosea and his family is something we will never forget. It was an amazing experience to sleep with the rumble and the orange glow of the Yasur volcano.

Living with locals

Reviewed By Malus_domestica

Me and my Husband spent several nights at Walem lodge and we really enjoyed our time. It´s really close to the Uri marine reserve and there is no problem organising boat transport. We appreciate the clean bungalows, well-equipped kitchen and close supermarket. Simon, the owner, is very friendly and was happy to tell us about the way of life in Vanuatu. Don´t expect a sandy beach and bars, this is authentic Vanuatu experience with the island hospitality.

Tanna Panorama Bungalows

Hidden paradise

Reviewed By SydneySuz

This is one of the most unusual and special places we've visited. Be warned it is remote but very beautiful. If you want serenity and a genuine local experience, near the majestic Mt Yasur, this is where to stay on Tanna. If you want luxury and other tourists then its not for you. These bungalows are run by the extremely friendly Mike Sam and his lovely family. They have built two local style bungalows which have beautiful views. The one we stayed in had a double bed and a single. Mosquito nets. Solar light. Clean linen. And a cute porch at the front on which to sit and admire the view. It's tight but adequate. There is a clean western toilet and wash area in another hut through the garden. You can also bathe in the river a short walk down the hill. Mike also has the 'restaurant' where he serves delicious food (breakfast is included in tariff) and you can enjoy the panorama of the volcano, Mt Yasur. When the volcano is at level 2 or higher it is quite a spectacular sight. Even at level 1 you still hear the rumbles of the volcano through the night (but not so loud that they disturb sleep) and see spectacular explosions of coloured clouds. Mike is an amazing host and will take you to local Kustom villages, hikes through the bush, excursions to the volcano., visit the local community kindy. He treats you as one of the family. We felt privileged to stay here. The only warning is that the bungalows are not on a local road but rather on a bush track. Mike will arrange transport from the airport which takes about 2 hours through quite rough roads and bush tracks and you may wonder where the hell you are going - but it's worth it. If you want a true local experience this is it.
