Reviewed By O705OQdavidfThis is a very large, modern hotel in an old, small, historic city. It's a safe place to stay. However the hotel adds nothing, in my opinion, to the experience of staying in Trancoso. The rooms are furnished fairly inexpensively and in a modern decor. Given the immense size of the dining room, I am guessing that the hotel tries to book large tour groups traveling by bus (or with multiple buses). The staff are competent and friendly. The breakfast buffet is your average, basic Portuguese breakfast; nothing remarkable, neither good nor bad. The location is convenient to the old city.

Good price/quality ratio, but don't expect an experience ;-)
Reviewed By AlenaRomJust off the highway/main street leading into Trancoso, that hostel is very simple & basic, however with its own charm. The Internet didn't work in the room at the end of the corridor (so if one wanted to stay connected, one would have to go out into the corridor or sit in the canteen). Breakfast was very basic (however edible & totally fulfilled its function, where you could get a bite before starting your next day adventures). The hotel definitely offered a very good price/quality ratio (in May 2015 it was €35 per double room), but don't expect an "experience" here.

Right by the walls
Reviewed By sadeeyorTranquil Trancoso (apart for the pleasant contrast - for me - of the heavy metal classics in a bar in the main square). A real bijou walled town in the Beiras. This wee guesthouse is perfectly located just outside the walls. Handy for everything, including buses. The owners are a wee bit strait-laced, but pleasant folks. Clean, adequate room, reasonably priced. A very good choice for a stopover en route north or south.

A Quinta is located right in the Route of the Historic Villages of Portugal and the Camino of Santiago Route – Via the Portuguese Eastern Route. It is about 30 minutes by car from the Alto Douro vineyard, the Archaeological Park of the Vale do Coa ( the river Coa Valley) and the Serra da Estrela Natural Park.
Como ficar numa casa de Familia!
Reviewed By Ana GFicámos nesta casa com 2 crianças pequenas e adorámos. A casa é nova, muito cuidada e limpa, a pequena piscina faz as delicias dos mais novos, mas o melhor de tudo é a simpatia da D. Aldina e do Sr. Francisco. Pessoas adoráveis e de coração enorme que nos trataram como se fossemos familia. Não podemos deixar de mencionar o maravilhoso pequeno almoço com os deliciosos queijos, presunto e o bolo caseiro. Adorámos. É uma cosa com coração e sem dúvida que iremos voltar! Obrigada pela forma como nos acolheram. Ana, João, Alice e Emília

historical villages, beautiful landscapes and friendliness
Reviewed By jlacabralThe central region of Portugal has a lot of historic villages that deserve a visit. One of these is Trancoso, a medieval village well preserved and surrounded by ramparts, which played an important role in the struggles that Portugal fought over the centuries to assert its independence from Spain. Near Douro River and its wonderful landscapes, the region offers authenticity, good food and the unbeatable hospitality of its inhabitants. A very nice and cosy place to stay during your visit is Solar dos Almeidas, an old noble house that has been lovingly restored by its owners, a nice couple in their golden age, who pay all the attention to their guests needs, with lots of sympathy. Breafkfast is superb, the property has a nice swimimg pool to got sunshine in the glorious mornings and its location allows easy and pleasant trips to Trancoso and other villages, like Almeida, Castelo Rodrigo, Linhares, Lamego... I have enjoyed a couple of days at Solar dos Almeidas this summer and I am sure I will return.

As casas são muito recentes, de muito boa qualidade e estado de conservação. A nossa estadia foi muito agradável e cumpriu com o objetivo de descansar. Recomendo a quem queira fazer uma escapadinha relaxada.
