The hiking area's trail network is diverse and has a variety of hiking destinations and possibilities. The location is easy to access at all times of the year. Only a 15-minute drive from Rovaniemi International airport, ride to downtown takes 20 minutes by car.
Fantastic stay, like a holiday into a snow globe
Reviewed By Laurence Aspen WWe spent three nights at this beautiful resort and we didn't want to leave! The location is so peaceful, it's just on the edge of the Arctic Circle Hiking Area with incredible views in every direction and hikes and ski trails on your doorstep. We stayed in a panorama hut and were really impressed by how clean, comfortable and well appointed it was. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was simple and delicious, we had two vegans and one vegetarian in our group and were very well catered for. One morning they arranged a early breakfast for us so that we could set off early to take a long hike. A highlight was the night time snowshoe hike which we booked through the resort, walking out onto the frozen river in our snowshoes and then into the dark forest was magical. The resort is a little way from Rovaniemi (about 30 minutes by car) and not all tour operators will pick you up from here, so sometimes we had to take taxis to nearby attractions, as we didn't have a car. However, we found that was worth it to stay somewhere that felt so quiet and connected with nature. If you are looking for a romantic getaway or an adventure in the forest with a group of friends, I highly recommend this place.

An ideal destination to combine the arctic nature and outdoor activities; Cross country skiing, snowshoening, ice swimming in winter. Hiking, trekking, geocaching and disc golfing in summer. Reviewed By TonyStepIt is a very nice place to stay If you like quitness, peace and Outdoor sports in the middle of the Nature of Finnish Lapland. Kiilopää fjell and naturepark right next to your doorstep. Do prepare that the nearest shops are at Saariselkä(10km away) and only a small minimart at the hotel lobby. We loved this place. Much needed nature escape after The busy Life at The City.

Easy stay before hike to Hetta-Pallas path
Reviewed By Maikki_NyAbsolutely lovely holiday village, owned by very friendly and welcoming couple. They had also a lovely dog welcoming us! Wiews are amazing! Everything was very neat and clean, maybe recently renovated? Sauna was really nice. Breakfast was good, you got everything you need from there. We had the hiking package, which included a room with own shower & toilet, breakfast, car ride to Hetta-Pallas path start and car transfer to Pallas (while we hiked there). Everything worked great, our car was waiting in Pallas when we arrived there after a long hike :)

I recommend everyone that goes to this area to stay here.. Tasty food, clean rooms and rest rooms and great atmosphere!!!!

We are a small family enterprise in the heart of village Muonio in northern Finland or as we call it, Lapland. We are located by the lake Muoniojärvi. We offer accommodation in cosy and clean apartments and cottages.In summer you can enjoy the beach which is across the road. In winter the cross-country ski tracks start from our yard.

Very nice place in the heart of Muonio, close to beach and supermarkets, but still a very quiet and relaxing place. Lovely owners that are always ready to help out. Both cottages and showers/toilets and clean and well maintained.

Very helpful owner who stayed up to greet us after a late flight and was friendly and helpful in every respect. We travelled for an Arctic winter race with a bike which was kept safe. No complaints at all about the rooms which were all one would need, clean with a microwave and tv.

Reviewed By DavvebieggaI spent only one night on my way up north, but liked the place very much. It's only a few minutes to walk from the bus stop, but a very quiet place in the night. The owners are very friendly and nice people, the room was comfortable, good breakfast included. I had a comfortable room upstairs with own toilet. Shared shower downstars. Free wifi worked perfectly. I didn't know they also have snowshoes for rental, so I might come back for several days in the winter/spring time.

Lodge Kuukkeli Teerenpesä is built with an old pine material of Lapland located in a pleasant natural atmosphere in Saariselkä. There are 10 different rooms with own bathrooms. There are two Double rooms, two Small-Twin rooms, and six Twin rooms with own WC and bathroom. Each room have private Sauna turns every day, and also shared times for all the rooms. Lodge is located in the very centre of Saariselkä close to all local services and possible to book other activities. The bus stop near Teerenpesä serves all the buses and also the ski bus, as well as the airport transfers bus.

Reviewed By Exploration505590We had a Christmas dinner at restaurang Teerenpesä and for all of us food and service was fast and good. I took wild mushroom soup as starter and reindeer filet with oven vegetables and both of them were really good! Food for children, hamburgers were good and salads , fish and beef for rest of adults were tasteful? House wine which was recommended was also good. I can recomend this restaurang.

Beautiful caravan area with over a hundred electric places and twelve cabins with sauna for 2+2 persons. Sallainen Caravan and Cabins are located by lake Keselmajarvi and in the heart of Sallfell and ski resort. Spa, restaurants and other services are all less than half a kilometer away. Ski and hiking tracks burst the area and you can ski right to your cabin door from the slope. There's an idyllic fireplace by the lake and only few steps from the area a peaceful, sunny beach.

Reviewed By PeasmoldWWMy three night stay in Sallatunturi was a bit of a washout in an otherwise record-setting hot summer, but Sallainen Cottages somehow made up for it. The weather on my arrival day was horrendous, but the management granted me complimentary early checkin so I could journey early and avoid the worst of the poor driving conditions: hugely appreciated. Once there, the cottage was lovely, just the right size for a solo traveller or a couple, recently built with a separate bedroom, well-equipped kitchen, comfortably furnished, good wifi and a welcoming sauna to compensate for the miserable weather. Linens and towels were spotlessly fresh. The location, just beside the fell, is also perfect for hiking, and the town of Salla, just 10 km away, has decent supermarkets in case you forgot to stock up en route (Salla also has petrol stations). The owners kindly provided a detailed local map, showing all services, attractions and trails If you are touring around Lapland this is an ideal place to relax in comfort in a location that proudly announces itself as ‘the middle of nowhere’.
