Lisbon Destination Hostel

In July of 2011, smack in the heart of downtown Lisbon - Rossio - a new hostel is born. It could be just another hostel, except it's not. Housed in one of Lisbon's most beautiful and renowned buildings - the Rossio Railway Station - an undisputed icon of late XIX Century Romantic architecture (and which has recently undergone a profound facelift), Lisbon Destination Hostel is perched around a winter garden, where light filters down from the rooftop, harmoniously flooding the patio and creating an ambiance that is both tranquil and upbeat. We had planned on catering to a specific target, only to realize later that we didn't have to. We're confident that, between the ample first floor bedrooms (sleeping 4 to 8) with large windows overlooking the historic city, and the double rooms one floor up which peer out over the winter garden, you - whomever you may be - will find your niche. And if all this weren't enough, please note that, from our doorstep, you can take the train to the town of Sintra, a Unesco World Heritage Site just 20 minutes' ride away. Once you get there, you'll understand why.

Perfect Location!

The location cannot be beat: easy access to train/metro as well as 15-20 minute walking to anything you might want to check out. The hostel was clean, staff was friendly, and bedding was on par with hotels. They provide a lot of social opportunities and great advice. If you are ok with the hostel environment, I would 100% recommend!

Lisbon Poets Hostel

Among the cobble stone streets and beautifully colored tiled buildings you will find our hostel in the eclectic neighborhood of Graça. The neighborhood is centrally located but just outside the most touristic part of the city. Our guests can be close to all of the main attractions yet still return in the evening to a comfortable and cosy home away from home.

When searching for hotels in Lisbon , some of the prices were shocking. So, after searching. “good” and “affordable” we ended up here. What a good choice! Our room was very comfortable and clean, with cool A/C for the hot days. The staff was very helpful and there are tons of shops and restaurants nearby. We are 60, and found most other lodgers much younger, but we got along great with everyone we met. An excellent choice for a stay.

Really nice cool looking hostel - we booked a private room and the view was very sweet. The A/C worked well which was nice since there was an unusual heat wave for Lisbon. The shared bathrooms were clean and we didn't have any troubles. Be ready to walk up a lot of stairs! Breakfast was nice and simple - toast cereal and some fruit. Wish the coffee machines were cooperating but overall fine. Great easy to get to location!

Central place and convenient location with taste

Reviewed By franckor2015

This hotel has no particular pretensions, but fulfills its basic function. It offers you a good level of comfort for an affordable budget. We had to use the toilets and showers in the hallway, but I was told that work was going to be done and that all the bedrooms would have built-in toilets and bathrooms. You should perhaps avoid the ground floor at first and ask for upper floors. Breakfast is weak. Without imagination and without taste. if you fear noise, you will choose a hotel less exposed to the noise of the street

Good but not sure what they are trying to achieve

An enjoyable stay here for three nights as a solo traveller. I had a superior double, a very big room, comfortable bed, massive bathroom and coffee machine. Fresh water provided each day which was a nice touch. Breakfast is served in the Decadente restaurant in the main building, good selection provided and served by a lovely lady who was always happy, singing and cracking jokes with guests. I also enjoyed a great dinner one night in the restaurant- the friwd green beans were to die for! My only real issue was noise. I had no problems with the exterior noise - I know the location so fully expected it. My issue was interior. The suites are in the same building as a rooftop bar and restaurant, which does not have a separate entrance meaning non residents are coming up and down the stairs right by the rooms. More so, I think for security reasons the rooms really should be separated, I found it a bit uneasy with people so close to my room. My parting observation really is I'm not sure what the place is trying to achieve. It's advertised as hostel and suites. Which is a vast difference in itself. At breakfast as a suite guest you get a different offer in the same place as hostel guests. It was a bit odd to have my breakfast served, get better coffee and eggs whilst hostel guests sitting next to me had the self serve (which looked more than ample and good quality) The Decadente restaurant on site in the hostel building is open to the public. Whilst a very good restaurant its not a hostel eatery, and not hostel prices. The Insolito bar and restaurant in the suites building again very good, but as comment above its all mixed up with the rooms. I guess I left wondering whether I was in a hostel, hotel or a dining destination. All individual experiences i had were good, combined - not sure if it works.

I had many reservations before my trip, as you do as a solo traveller, but it was just everything I wanted. The hostel was beautiful and homely, I met so many solo travellers and would recommend it to everyone, young old, male or female. The whole experience reminded me why I love to travel alone and the surfing, yoga, group meals and other activities were well organised and really good fun. We even got blessed with two free breathwork classes which were phenomenal. Thank you so much for my stay I can’t wait to try the other locations
