Lake Yojoa

Reviewed By PDGII - Warm Springs, United States

Lake Yojoa is the largest natural lake in Honduras, surrounded by mountains and formed by a volcano. The northern part of the lake near Las Naranjos Park is the most spectacular part of lake, sitting in the shadow of Santa Barbara mountain, the second largest peak in Honduras. Along the bank there are plenty of small shops to rent kayaks on the lake. Surrounding the lake are several parks including my favorite Parque Nacional Cerro Azul Meambar. You can easily fill two or more days here swimming, kayaking, birdwatching, hiking in cloud forests, seeing waterfalls and more.

Located next to ¨Micos Lagoon¨, this village is one of Tela’s most beautiful attractions. Not only because of its amazing ecological beauty but because it holds the culture of the Garifunas. The area holds many activities like boat tours through the lagoon for bird watching and crocodile observation. Museum of Anthropology and History of San Pedro Sula

Reviewed By ilZio - San Pedro Sula, Honduras

The museum is located a block from el Parque Central and the Cathedral. It's unimpressive from the outside, but great on the inside. It has a lot of artifacts and items on display that show the history of the Sula Valley and San Pedro Sula. The bottom floor is particularly interesting for kids as it has recreation of older homes and it portrays the local way of life. They have sheets with english explanations throughout the museum. It's very well done and would recommend.

The fortress is in great shape, and you can roam throughout most of it, letting your imagination fly. This is the most significant colonial military building in all of Central America! A nice museum next door will help you understand the history of Omoa from colonial times to present. This is a MUST visit site if you are in the area! Well worth a day trip from San Pedro Sula!
