We stayed at the hotel for two nights. Location you can't ask for better, the hotel was a disappointment, it needs a major revamp. It's rated 4 star. Nowhere near. It's a pity cause Location is so nice. I won't recommend it to anyone. Even the lift was dirty. Sorry guys but this is how I feel.

Mouldy Smell & overall poor quality

Reviewed By MeganA1005

Booked for two nights with sea view but ended up checking out as early as I could get into another hotel after 1 night. Upon entry room had stuffy smell, assumed to do with no air on. After one hour smell of mould became quite strong. Turned air off in case it was that. Smell so bad could not sleep. After another hour, contacted reception seeking assistance (where I was told they’re fully booked and could only offer some air freshener spray). Ended up opening balcony door to get some fresh air. This was weekend arctic blast his SA so was freezing. Combination of all this left me with very little sleep. Towel quality very poor with them feeling like cardboard, looked grey rather than white, and even had holes in them. After mould smell and the look of towels did not even shower. Checked out at 8am as was told this was time duty manger started, only to find they hadn’t. Advised new start time of 9:30. Left there to go to another hotel. Received call and was advised smell due to carpets being recently replaced. New carpet smell and mould smell are very different and it was definitely not a new carpet smell. Further despite all this only offered a minimal refund for the night. Went to a hotel that was half the price, had more in room amenities and towel quality no comparison. Further their willingness to assist and support me was incomparable to what I received at Oaks. Overall poor room cleanliness with mould smell, poor quality of linens, limited amenities, all not worth the cost, even with the sea view!

Good weekend reasonable price

Great place for a clean, well appointed weekender. Accomodation was exactly as described - family friendly, but the resort room was perfect for a couple for a few days. Short walk or drive into Hahndorf and walking distance to wineries and a lovely gin distiller.

Great place to stay

Reviewed By 736bundyb

I've stayed here a lot over the years with work and love returning. The staff are brilliant, they're welcoming and friendly despite managing staffing issues and copping the brunt of some entitled boomers that sadly I've witnessed a few times now. The rooms are clean and comfortable, spa baths aren't my thing but the showers have good pressure and there's a country charm to the property. The wifi has its moments but first world problems! Happy hour is a must with $5 pints of the local pilsner and even better in winter when the fire is lit in the bar.

Neglected

Reviewed By GamerDee

We last stayed here 5 years ago and booked again on the way to Victor Harbor. Not too sure of the ownership structure out there these days but this place is what I would now label a "dump". We never got in the club to look around as the chef was off sick, but really nothing has been spent on the rooms, the bathroom was severely neglected and looks like someone who thought they knew how to do tiling may have had a go, but leaving aspects exposed was the start, paint was falling off the ply panel on the other side the wooden surround had obviously rotted out and was replaced above the rot with another piece of wood that was an offcut from somewhere else as the paint was peeling off. As for the pool it doesn't look like the photo these days whoever is supposedly maintaining such doesn't have much of an idea on chemical dosages, the noise coming from the pumps gave a clear indication that the bearings were just about to pack it in. Management obviously doesn't trust the guests with a $20 toaster as there was a room that had 1 toaster and 1 microwave which was supposedly open all the time. Trying to leave early I went up to use the toaster and the bloody door would not open when I managed to find one of the staff he told me it was open and I told him to come down and try for himself guess what the door wouldn't open, he headed inside to sort it out and in the interim I pulled the door sideways and managed to release the lock, the "sticky tape" that was used to hold in the lock had given way. There is an old saying that you have to spend money to make money and this is very important in this industry This is a real shame as the location is free from highway traffic noise and used to be ideal but we will be reconsidering Renmark as a stop-over point in the future.

Comfortable hotel for one night

Reviewed By Suzanne2303

We were transferred to this hotel for one night when our ferry was cancelled. It was great that they were able to accommodate our group at short notice. Our room was comfortable but a little lack lustre. Dinner was delicious - the pasta with chilli and capers. The hotel is in Kingscote which is a good sized little town, however we arrived after dark and left early the next morning, so barely got to see the water! It’s still a distance from the ferry, which needs to be factored in when travelling. However if you were to stay for a few nights there would be options for dining
