North Star Inn Restaurant

We had a very nice meal here. Decent menu and good service. The interior is much smarter and more appealing than The North End with better ambiance and not much difference in price. The local Bushling Merlot was delicious.

Dingy dining room, tables packed very close together, very noisy. If you’re unlucky you might get jammed onto a rickety fold table with barely enough room for your plates. Schnitzels pretty ordinary, a bit dry and chewy. Spaghetti bolognese dry with not enough sauce. Waiters and waitresses seemed friendly but manager sounded rude, unhelpful and irritated by customer requests. Thanks for your review. I would like to respond as follows.Dingy dining room. Not sure what you mean by this, dictionary says it’s gloomy, dark, poorly lit, dark etc etc. The pub is 162 years old. Not sure if you realised that.Tables packed together, noisy etc etc. It appears you were here during Easter. Our busiest weekend of the year. We can normally seat 55 in the dining room but Easter is different, we have to get through over 180 each of the nights during Easter, which means more people, less room and more noise. Not sure why you would want to eat out after hearing your complaints. There’s a park up the road where you could have had a picnic by yourself if you really wanted to. As for the food well you just have see the other reviews to make up your mind on that. As for the manager, we dont have a manager, we have owners and staff and if you really had a complaint why would you not talk to one of them. Is it because you are more comfortable behind your screen. Guess so. My suggestion to you is, don’t go to old country pubs, don’t go out for dinner on busy nights and dont eat out. Nothing will make you happy.Cheers

This place looked great from the outside, but failed to deliver. Firstly we were not made to feel welcome, she let us know how busy she was, so we felt like we were imposing. The coffee was luke warm and weak, the toasted sandwhich was dried out and tasteless. We couldnt even get a drink of tap water with our meal, so i had to get my water out of the car? My pie, by the way was very nice, my husband had a bad case of food envy and ate half of it to make up for his sandwhich!Thankyou for your review. We have been very busy as its school holiday time. You only needed to let us know that the coffee wasn't hot enough or strong enough. Never had a complaint about our Toasted Sandwiches. I explained to you that the tap water isn't very nice and we were on Town water and you said that's ok I have water in the car. Instead of airing dirty laundry on here maybe come and speak to me - I don't bite - cheers Donna
