Optimal location, great service, modern bathrooms

Reviewed By fcbbhkg

Our stay could not have been better in Potosí. Optimal location, central heating (something rare in Bolivia) made the first great impression. Pandemic slowdown made the management move, and invest in refurbishing the bathrooms to modern optimal presentation and functionality. The rooms were very nice, but the welcoming touch was the quality bathroom. Overall, it was very clean, very friendly staff, and very specially: They took high notes to biosecurity care. A great recommendation to stay in Potosí, let us wake up travels again and go to the right hotel, Hostal Colonial is doubtlessly the correct address when going to Potosí!

Up high in Potosi

Reviewed By tomdelux

Traveling with a crowd made this a perfect place to stay. The price was right. The suites were roomy. The staff is pleasant and helpful. The only real downer is that hotel is a bit removed from the major tourist sites and taxis were required wherever we went. The breakfast was hardboiled eggs, crackers, and coffee--basic sustenance. Really felt the high altitude here. Potosi has a fascinating history and reportedly was large than Paris and London in the 1600's. The Mint was fascinating--no where else like it. I recommend the hotel without reservation.

Comfortable & accommodating

We had a lovely 2 night stay at Santa Teresa. Beds and super comfortable and the hotel is very clean throughout. After 5 months travelling South America we opted for a bit of luxury and we were very satisfied. Gabby on reception was particularly helpful and friendly. The older lady on reception with glasses... not so much. Thanks for having us :)

Simple, clean, warm

Reviewed By AndreaS-AS1

It is a very simple hotel next to the university in Potosi. The rooms are clean, with a view to an inner court, so there is not much light inside. Heating is very good, wifi works OK sometimes. It is clean and the restaurant is good, they cook their own bread, which is tasty.

A Really Great Hotel

Reviewed By JohnInBolivia

What a great hotel. Wonderful staff. I'd booked for 2 nights but had to leave mid-afternoon after just one night. No problem and no extra charge, just paid for the one night. A very nice spacious room where I was able to do a little work and a good sized bathroom. The room heating was a bit hot, so I opened the windows; simple solution. Breakfast was as good as you get. The internet was good. It even has an heated pool. And the most amazing thing is the lobby bar. Potosi is a mining town after all; so the bar is made from old bits and pieces from the Cerro Rico Mine. Just fantastic. For such a good hotel it is more expensive than probably all other in Potosi at just less than US$100 per night; but very well worth the extra expense.

Really good!

Reviewed By JeanLostaunau

The only thing that made us leave this hotel is that we were on town because of work, and we had to park a pick-up every day. They don't have a decent parking spot, kind of dangerous to park and take the car out. BUT.... the hotel is nice, and really well located, and in case you don't want to leave, there is a great restaurant downstairs. By the way, do not expect a modern hotel, is more like a colonial days big house that is now an hotel. I really liked it.

Good all-rounder very cls to main square

Reviewed By RPickett18

I always spend a long time researching a place to stay before booking and compared to the booking.com reviews, the TA ones come across really badly which I thought was unjust. I stayed for two nights for what I felt was a reasonable price for the offering compared to others available. Yes it’s not been updated for some years and yes the yellow walls are a bit garish but it was clean and warm. Pros: -good location, two blocks downhill to the main square, next to a pharmacy, no.1 restaurant on TA one block away, well lit and safe. 10b taxi to the Nuevo bus terminal -helpful staff, one lady spoke English and was a bit more stern but offered me breakfast after 11am when I didn’t bother to come down and try it and the Spanish speaker was always smiling and helpful via google translate! Always someone on reception when needed -hot water at all times, albeit with a wayward shower head, and a radiator in the bedroom -laundry available at 20b a kg, mine all came back present and correct -free water refills Cons: -dated rooms and low lighting with dark furniture makes the rooms gloomy -bad WiFi, sometimes showed a connection but wasn’t working -beds are varied, might be soft or hard depending on what room or one you try, not overly comfy but plenty of blankets -first room I was put in had a leaking radiator and the door wouldn’t lock. Was immediately swapped to a triple room with no extra charge and no fuss which was great

A Very Nice Quaint Hotel

Reviewed By JohnInBolivia

Wonderful staff. A nice room with a great shower. The room was perhaps a little small, but bigger than hotel rooms in Paris. The bed was comfortable. It was an internal room, so the windows needed to be open to cool it down. A great hotel to wander around in. Breakfast was simple but good. The Wifi worked well. Close to the city centre. About a 6-8 block walk. I'll stay here again.

Eine alte Hacienda, jetzt Hotel

Reviewed By Elvie B

Beware no parking poor acess

Reviewed By gemido

I made a reservation assuming there be parking as impossible to leave my motorcycle on the street. After the reservation confirmation arrived I noticed there was no parking. Too late to get a refund. I tried to contact the hotel on Facebook before booking. Still no reply. The hotel is on a very narrow street. Could not even park outside
