Reviews on International food in Klosters, Swiss Alps, Switzerland. Klosters is a Swiss village in the Prättigau, politically part of the municipality of Klosters-Serneus, which belongs to the political district Prättigau/Davos in the canton of Graubünden. Klosters itself consists of the two main parts Klosters Dorf ('Village') and Kloster Platz ('Place'), and the settlements Selfranga, Äuja, Monbiel. Together with neighbouring Serneus, the two villages form the former municipality of Klosters-Serneus. On 1 January 2016 the former municipality of Saas im Prättigau merged into Klosters-Serneus.

We were pretty unimpressed with the mountain huts in Klosters, we found the more characterful ones to be on the Jakobshorn in Davos, this was one of the better options in the Parsenn area in that at least it had a modicum of rustic charm, many here are disappointingly functional in design. As ever I wish Tripadvisor offered something between average & very good as the latter over-eggs our experience somewhat but an average rating would discredit the very lovely service & half decent food. Service was a little slow though our waitress was a delight & food ranged from ok (lasagne) to excellent (bouillabaisse). Prices are high but that's not news in Klosters.

Early dinner visit. Only a few tables were occupied and yet waiting personnel were so inefficient & no attention was given to guests’ needs. From the start to end, it was one mess after another - No explanation of menu, oder concept, mixed dish delivery (resulting in both over- and under-cooking w/ no apology), over-cooked and inedible veggies. It’s been a long time since I encountered such mediocre food and service for over CHF200 for 2 persons. There’ll be no next visit to Alte Post in Klosters, unfortunately.

The Panorama Restaurant located inside the Silvretta Parkhotel Klosters provided excellent food and service. I was there for only Christmas dinner and had the set menu as I was staying elsewhere. Most (if not all) of the others were guests of the hotel and on a half-board basis. The restaurant itself is located on the 2nd floor, however I was met at the front entrance when I arrived and taken directly to my table. I was informed when the booking was made that I might have to share a table, however this wasn't a problem for me and was actually by myself at the table before joining a group staying at the hotel. Each phase of the meal was excellent. There was a choice of either fish or goose for the main course, and chose the goose which was a good choice. The prices were very reasonable and what you would expect at any upscale meal for Christmas. The only thing I would've liked to see were the other guests dressing appropriately and not allow their kids to bring in computer games and headphones. If you are staying anywhere in Klosters, the Panorama Restaurant is definitely worth considering.

The Sportzentrum Restaurant was conveniently located close to my hotel and decided to give it a try as the menu looked good. It is part of the sports complex with the cross-country trails also adjacent to the restaurant. When entering you go up to the second floor. I was met at the door, but it looked like others just took a seat and were helped so am not sure what the correct protocol is.The restaurant was fairly busy with one big party taking up one side of the floor. Otherwise I had personalized service from the waiter who was friendly and helpful. They primarily serve pizza, but do have a selection of traditional Swiss dishes. I tried one of the traditional pork selections, while good, was way overpriced for what you got and for the restaurant itself. The bread offered was regular wheat bread you use to make sandwiches which was disappointing. However the overall experience was good.Other than the overpriced food, the only other complaint was families allowing their kids to run around like it was a playground (and the adults making even more noise when the kids weren't around). You can't really blame the restaurant, but did bring down the experience. Than again the individuals in question were British and was a trend during my stay in Klosters.I would recommend the Sportzentrum Restaurant if you are looking for an informal restaurant to eat at with a decent selection to choose from. The staff was friendly and the food is good.

In the midst of so many 5-star reviews, I am clearly a dissenting voice. The quality of the drinks and food is good, bit I find the concept annoying. All drinks and food are ordered and paid for at a central point (which often causes congestion at busy times) and is then brought to your table. However, everything appears at different times to the extent that often one person has finished their drink before the rest of the group's order arrives. Over the Christmas period, I felt that the bar area of the old Mountain Lounge Klatsch resembled a children's creche with crying kids roaming around and disgruntled staff running the gauntlet of unsupervised kids when bring orders to tables. Once people are settled at their table it is very hard to move them on. Staff can't come round and ask if people want to order something further as they are unable to take an order at the table and people tend to sit around for some time without any food or drink. Seems a poor business model to me.I would like to see the bar area function as a real bar, at least in the late afternoon and also find the early closing time absolutely ridiculous. Klosters has few bars and closing a bar at 6.00 pm makes no sense to me at all.

Walserhof

We used to go very frequently to this restaurant when it was run by Chef Armin Amrein. In those days, it was an amazing experience. Unfortunately, since last year, the chef at Walserhof changed. We went for lunch some days ago. To start with, we were given no amuse-bouche (only plain bread and butter. For a Michelin star restaurant?!). Our appetizer (castagne soup) was pipping hot, not something you serve to a client and impossible to drink for a while. Our main courses were: their gourmet burger (which came with the meat quite raw and looked uninviting) and, for me, mushroom risotto with venison. Although I asked for well cooked venison, no only it arrived bloody but was incredibly hard to eat. The risotto was watery and had little taste. When we pointed out both our dishes were too raw, they took them back and they bought new dishes (as it should be done). But the taste of the new dish was very bland anyway. I left without finishing my main course. Maybe they had a very bad kitchen-day that day, but it will be a while before we go back.
