The oldest, homiest and coziest ski café in Luosto area. Leave your skis, snowshoes, snowmobile or car outside and pop in from the cold Spring weather and enjoy hot drinks, pastries or doughnuts by the warm fireplace. We accept also credit cards.
Torvisen Maja is a cosy place with a long tradition...the family has owned the place for many years (60?). Their pastries are very tasty and so are the pancakes. We loved it :)You can do a nice break there if you are having a cross-country ski day or you can also go by car if you just wanna taste their nice sweets.

We came once again to the Midnight Sun film festival in Sodankylä, and also again to Päivin kammari, for dinner this time. We - a group of four - had two kinds of salad and salmon and reindeer. The food was ok, but I wonder if was because of the busy time that it was not very good; we all thought it could have been a bit better. The service was friendly.

The restaurant and cafeteria Wanha Waskoolimies (Old Gold Prospector) is situated next to Gold Prospector Museum in Tankavaara Gold Village, only 300 meters from the highway 4 (E75).The milieu of the restaurant is extremely interesting. It is full of small details about Lapp culture, local nature, the gold rush and the good old days. They serve a buffet breakfast, a lunch (a salad buffet and the main course as a portion of two choices) and a dinner from the à la carte menu. I loved my wild boar steak. They also have the Wild West Saloon, which is open in the evenings after the restaurant is closed.
