next to Eagle Ridge mall
Although our favorite "go to" place is technically in Lake Wales, we much prefer it to the one downtown Winter Haven. Always friendly, fast service and even though they are usually very busy the meals are brought out in a timely manner. With their never ending salsa & chips appetizer (free if you download their app) we always have something to nibble on! You can see our family their 4 o 5 times a month!

Grove Roots Brewing Co. is a fiercely local craft brewery and taproom located in downtown Winter Haven, Florida. Our mission? To create inventive, artisanal beers inspired by the traditions and tastes of Central Florida's citrus past. Through partnerships
I absolutely love everything about this place. Relax in a family friendly atmosphere, drink fantastic beer, play games listen to music, enjoy food trucks... the best around.
They had a decent choice of burgers and fries and such, but also a choice of chicken and pasta, and salmon! The salmon was really good. Pan-seared, with green beans and mashed potatoes. The drinks were strong and it was nice to overlook the dance-party the kids were having!

A place where it appears the locals gather on a regular basis. I happened to be there on a Thursday night and it was trivia night. the beers were reasonably priced and the bartenders were attentive. I didn't order food but they do sell food. The orders I saw coming out looked and smelled good.

Met two couples for seafood at this often locally recommended and previously visited (maybe three or four times) in several years of coming to central Florida. This past Saturday, two couples (we were one) drove an hour and the third couple was local. Our locals eat here several times a year, easy meet up. Itâs very casual, food typically reliably good, tables and floors clean, an old unattractive fish camp on a lake that upgraded from portapotties to flush toilets, with outdoor open air bar and enclosed indoor a/c bar both with table food service, live low key music outside, with a steady stream of locals coming to sit and stay awhile. Think reliable standby, a solid second choice, slow night out. Oyster night is now Wednesdayâs with bucket and beer for $30 at oyster shuckers counter - good deal worth visit. Other weekday specials. Fried grouper top notch. Blackened grouper not as good. Gumbo thick and NOLA good. Catfish perfectly done. Cole slaw & Fries good. Two star loss for this crazy scene: We had 2 tables pushed together and 3 checks and were told our group reached its oyster limit when one more tried to order a dozen after seeing three others looked good when served. What? Yes, no more. Why? Because the machine wouldnât allow me to put in more. What? If you want more you can go to the oyster bar. What? Three of us ordered a dozen oysters and 6 of us ordered dinners! Now a fourth wants oysters before their catfish and the answer is no? Yes. What? No you canât have more. WHAT! Only 3 orders to a table. Are you serious because technically we have 2 tables and oh for heavens sake, why are we arguing tables and allowances when itâs ridiculous that you wonât serve a dozen oysters to me because Iâm paying for food at your restaurant and you have plenty of available oysters so please send the manager. Manager: Itâs $17 here and less at oyster bar. WHAT? I donât care if itâs more here and your restaurant shouldnât either because oh for goodness sakes this is a crazy ridiculous conversation so forgetaboutit. Yep, for real. Head slap times six.

Hurricaneâs fried pickles are the absolute best and weâve tried them all over the country. Made with pickle chips (versus Spears) they are perfect for dipping and sharing. And the dipping sauce is yummy. Tried the avocado appetizer. It was tasty but we were disappointed that it was served in the skin (rind?). Their boneless wings are always hot and delicious and the selection of sauces is wonderful. Enjoyed a mango frozen daiquiri that was delicious. They were very busy when we went and the service was a little slow but the waitress Shayla was quite good.

Rumor is that they have the best steaks in town. I donât eat steak. They have excellent shrimp appetizers and great fish dinners. The atmosphere is like a party, I took local friends there and they said Mannys is now their favorite restaurant. The fried mushrooms appetizer is huge, happy hour is well- very happy.Love the one downtown winter haven and the one on I-27 in Haines city.

Polk County's Premier Waterfront Restaurant.
Had dinner after hearing about its great location on a lake. To be fair we're from Pennsylvania where lakes tend to be larger and a bit more scenic. However, based on our year here in Florida its still a nice lake location. The view is nice - not spectacular but nice. Our meals were good and our service was good. Its not what we'd consider fine dining but it was a good meal. Portions were good. We'd go back.

Weâve attempted to visit a few times now but the wait is always too long, this time I called ahead and was given 6pm slot, unfortunately when we arrived there was still no available tables â¹ï¸ such a shame, weâve really been looking forward to trying. We donât take reservations but our âCall ahead seatingâ cuts you wait time in half. Iâm sorry you havenât had a chance to dine with us.

K and I decided to try Ovations, it was our first time and we went on a Wednesday night. Place was packed and it would have been at least a twenty minute wait until a couple got up from the bar and we took their seats. Note to self: make reservations! The bar crowd was exceptionally friendly and we met several new friends. Patrick the bartender was exceptional making sure our drinks were perfect and consulting on menu choices. I chose the Lamb shank with a side of broccoli and wild rice but changes it to garlic mashed potatoes. K had the combo ribs chicken plate with coleslaw and the garlic mashed potatoes like me. She said it was the best coleslaw âshe didnât make herselfâ, and the chicken and ribs were delicious. My dish arrived with the rice instead of the garlic mashed potatoes. Patrick went back and got me a dish of gmpâs. The lamb fell off the bone and the sides were fantastic. Since we live about ten minutes from Ovations I think we found our new âgo toâ restaurant. Make reservations if you want to be sure to get a table but the bar is a great place to enjoy a meal and the ambiance! Donât miss this place! Thanks for coming! Weâre so happy that you found us and that everything was great. We would love to be tour go to place in the area. Visit our website ovationbistro.com to put your name in for a table!-Team Ovation
