8 night stay after a diving trip of 6 days

The hotel is placed on the north side of the island. Beautiful bay. We chose the Sea view bungalows . Something I regret later, when I saw the bungalow on the beach. But the hotel was fully booked and no chance for change. The hotel areas is a bit far away from all the villages so it is perfect if you just want to relax at the hotel . For me it was few night too much but thanks to the activity list the hotel arrange I didn't get totally bored. fishing , 4 wheel motorbikes day trip, visit to the Lokobe reservation park . All arranged by Philippe .

Antsanitia Resort

Antsanitia Resort is a place so far away that you should experience to experience a stay that is both eco-citizen, authentic and undeniably unforgettable ... Far, far from the madding crowd and cities, it overlooks the majestic ballet outrigger canoes gliding between languid sand dunes emerging each day of the wedding of the waters of the river and those of the Indian Ocean. The estuary provides many letters to the site of intimacy and serenity, but the warm and wild is undeniably unique. He leaves the traveler invariably in a state of humility and contemplation as rare as relaxing. Beyond the setting, the spirit of eco hotel participates in the spell. The key word in Antsanitia resort is "Sustainable Tourism". The facility is certified Green Globe since October 2013 This American label attests to the fact that the establishment meets the local culture and traditions, it supports the local development, improvement of living conditions of the villagers and he is actively involved in the preservation of the environment and its natural resources.

One of the best in Mahajanga

No place is perfect but this place ticked a lot of the key boxes for me. Colorful, well designed individual bungalows, a nicely laid out reception, an outdoor restaurant near the pool, direct access to the beach ... and lemurs that run through the place a few times a day! It is a bit pricey, but it is a beautiful place and I would definitely recommend. My only small criticism would be it's very sparse menu and the lack of flexibility by the restaurant to make accommodations for dietary restrictions. Also the part of the beach where you can actually get in is a bit of a walk but it's pretty and safe.

Rapidly deteriorating place

This is my third visit here in past 6 months. During the first visit, the manager of the hotel was a very nice Indian guy: everything was nearly perfect. It happened that during the second visit I caught the handover between him and the French guy: things were still okay. Now I'm here again and very disappointed: prices are the same high, but the quality of everything became much worse. Food is bad, No hot water in the room. The place is very dark in the night. It is supposed to be a luxury place, but it seems like a place with no attention at all anymore. Water in the swimming pool is green. Things are broken.

Les Dunes d'Ifaty

Les Dunes d'Ifaty is boutique hotel, build from local materials, located 27 kilometres north of the city of Tulear, next to the "Mangily" fishing village and is built over an area of 6 hectares amidst a flora of tropical and other typical indigenous plants from this dry region of the south of Madagascar. The main building is designed following a wide-open-style structure, the roofing being supported by large pillars, with a seven metre high tree in the centre. In the main building are located the reception, the lounge, the main bar, the main restaurant and the kitchen. All the rooms are on both sides of the main building. The villa rooms are facing the sea, while the superior and standard rooms are in a tropical garden. They are not far from the swimming pool which is next to the beach. There is a beach bar where one can find drinks and food which is directly on the beach. The hotel is not far from the spiny forest(UNESCO registered), which is worth a visit and where one can see baobab(Reniala)trees and all the endemic plants of the south of Madagascar. Bird watchers will be able to find quite a few rare birds endemic to this southern part. Many different type of reptiles and animals can also be seen and the guides who speek many foreign languages will be delited to tell you more about them.

Enjoyable stay at Les Dunes d'Ifaty

We had read a number of negative reviews prior to our trip so was intrigued in the lead up to this stay. When visiting Madagascar you have to take things as they come and appreciate not everything will be perfect, and as long as you do this your have a great time! Hotel was about 40 mins drive from the airport, on the way to the hotel our guide explained that we needed to order dinner, he read out the options and called them through to the hotel. Most hotels in Madagascar prefer you to pre order your dinners during the day (something your quickly learn). We arrived at the hotel to a welcome juice and were shown to room 17. The room was large with a double bed one side of the bathroom and a small seating area / single bed the other side, its quite dark because of the shutters. However the bed was ok and had a mosquito net. The TV didn't have any English channels. The meals in the restaurant were generally good but some dishes better than others. Our first night was the best which included Chicken and potatoes for our main and desserts of panna cotta and creme puffs. Our first night was very fast and good service. We had lunch by the beach on the second day which was a lovely view however the problem is that there are lots of beach sellers walking up and down and watching you eat so it makes it rather uncomfortable, You will notice that hardly anyone sits & enjoys the beach and that is because the sellers are so persistent - its a real shame. However the pool area is lovely and relaxing with lots of butterflies - apparently some of the largest in the world. The sunsets are beautiful at the hotel and we could sit on our porch and watch them , really lovely! Breakfasts consist of fruit, pastries, coffee and juice. For an idea of costs we paid £28 for 2 x dinners, 1 x lunch and a number of soft drinks. (thats for two people in total)

I was here for dinner and I ordered vegetarian tagliatalle, tiramisu, and cappuccino. The portion of tagliatalle was huge, would say good for 2 people. The tiramisu tasted nice. Not too sweet, not too dull. The price for these plus a bottle of Tonic water was 34,000 which is relatively cheap in Nose Kely.

This hotel looks stunning when you arrive. It has pool! Which is the best thing a hotel can have. You will be very tired from all that climbing in Tsingy. Don't expect european standards of cleanliness and food. They have problems with electricity and water supply. But we enjoyed out stay very much, this hotel was a pleasent surprise. Don't have such high expectations, because they are still learning how to do tourism in Madagascar.
