Le Coin Sauvage

Located on a strip of golden beach that separates the turquoise sea from the deep green rainforest is Le Coin Sauvage, a small but exclusive eco lodge dedicated to lovers of peace and nature. The structure is entirely built with typical local materials, and consists of 10 sea view bungalows furnished in Malagasy style but with an Italian touch. The restaurant is located in the centre of the structure, where you will find mamma Teresa who will satisfy all your needs. The restaurant offers a varied menu completely based on local products where the long culinary experience of "Mamma Teresa" manages to combine the Italian culinary taste with the local gastronomy, bread and focaccia baked in our wood oven will not miss on the table, as well as fresh fruit, natural juices, cocktails and much more ... Nature and relaxation will accompany you throughout your stay.

Such a wonderful stay in a beautiful place! We will be back!

We are so lucky to stay at Le Coin Sauvage. The owners and staff are so kind and friendly, the owner's home-made cooking is super delicious, and the wooden tent we stayed is so lovely and private. Our stay at this beautiful lodge made our trip in Nosy-be so special and memorable. We spent such a relaxing and peaceful time there. At the same time we were never bored. The lodge helped us arrange fishing, whale watching, scuba diving in Tanikely, and excursion to Nosy Iranja, which were so much fun!

Remembrance of Past Times

Madagascar is a very special country, although I fear for its future with rapacious foreign interests clamouring to destroy its fragile ecology through greed and self-interest. But enough of harsh reality, Mandrare River Camp is a heavenly place and my wife and I have walked in its hushed cathedrals: the Spiny and Gallery Forests, both silent witnesses to the local tribe's ancestors. We have seen the stately Sifakas and the Ringtail Lemurs, the latter seeming to dance and caper on the forest floor especially for us. We have witnessed the charm of the local villagers and basked in the caring attentions of the camp's staff, not least our wonderful guide, Theo. There's nothing pretentious or fake about Mandrare. Zimbabwean-born Nathan and his American fiancée, Elizabeth, run a brilliant show, and everyone who is fortunate enough to visit is the beneficiary of their attention to detail. Had we but world enough and time, we'd be back like a shot.

Stunning remote setting with comfortable bungalows

Reviewed By SkisWithDog

This camp/hotel location is some distance off of the sealed road... going is slow because the cobblestone and dirt road isn't in great repair. The staff at the hotel were friendly, food at the restaurant was good, not great.. Our bungalow was roomy, but it would have been nice to have a fan to cool things a bit in the evening. The views all around the property are beautiful. There are many hiking opportunities in this remote valley.

No better way to experience Tsingy

Reviewed By Sweet_NK

We came here as part of their Tsingy 2N/3D tour. Our trip was not without hitches but we enjoyed every bit of the tour. We got picked up from the airport at Morondava and due to a little misunderstanding we needed to find a hotel room for the night before. Luckily we found a great hotel right on the beach in our price range. The ride to Bekopaka was long but fun. The driver and guide were good company and helped us experience as much culture as we could on our way. The ferry rides was a whole experience by itself. We got to this hotel in time for sunset and we were warmly welcomed. The owner had gifts waiting for us in the room and the welcome drinks were tasty. Food here is absolutely amazing and fresh. Food and drinks are cheap. The rooms are very comfortable and you can choose from a wide range. Be sure to experience the Milky Way at night whilst enjoying a leisurely stroll in the gardens. We had an awesome trip to Big and small Tsingy and Baobab Avenue. This hotel is very managed and you can contact them directly vie email from a google search. This was by far the cheapest option to explore Tsingy which we came across. The manager was a very calm and nice lady even when she dealt with difficult customers. We absolutely enjoyed every bit of our stay here and totally recommend it.

Quiet Location

Reviewed By RAFT60

We stayed here as part of a wildlife photography tour of Madagascar. Each tent is located in a cleared area of forest. The tents are placed on a raised wooden platform under a thatched roof. A fan would have made all the difference as it was like sleeping in an oven. Electric was solar powered. Water was delivered via an Ox Cart from a village 4kms away therefore a very precious resource and had to be used carefully. WiFi was available in the dining area. Meals were prepared and cooked in difficult conditions but were always tasty. There was always an either/ or choice of meals. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Hotel Aladabo

Beautiful! Not the usual Nosy Be Hotel

Reviewed By Christina P

We stayed here at the end of an amazing 2 weeks travelling around Western Madagascar. We wanted somewhere relaxing after all our adventures but didn't want a sterile Western hotel that could be anywhere. Aladabo fitted the bill perfectly. It feels off the beaten track and is much more reasonably priced than other places on the island. We were at the end of the season so there was only one other guest staying there, although with only 6 cabins it wouldn't feel crowded even if it was full I don't think. It was the most beautiful, relaxing place. Our cabin looked out onto the sea and the sound of the waves and sunsets was gorgeous. The owner planted coconut trees and a lovely garden so it's a nice shady oasis in the middle of the blazing hot day too. Food was delicious and cooked for us and they catered to my quite extensive dietary requirements well. The food was also Malagasy style which was nice. The only thing was that lunch options are a bit limited as there wasn't much nearby. We got taxis and tuk tuks in to the town for a couple of the days and then had lunch included on a snorkelling day tip to Nosy Tanikely. There are other hotels about 10-15 mins walk away so I suppose we could have gone there for lunch although it would have been boring Western style buffet stuff there. We did go there for drinks and to use their Wifi though. If you want to enjoy the beautiful island of Nosy Be but without feeling like part of the tourist conveyor belt then this is a great place to stay.

..if you are going to Manakara I will recommend you this place. Friendly and warm welcoming. The structure is composed by some very nice and clean bungalows; all of them are in a private garden. The place is close to Manakara-Be which is quite good to have a walk to the Ocean and to the Pangalan Channel. The bar/restaurant is in a central building and there is a nice terrace stay out and have a drink with other guest. The food is amazing. The Chef, one of the most friendly and willing person I've ever met, prepares local and delicious dishes: fresh pastries prepared for the breakfast and superb dinners..congratulations!!Also the other person of the staff are very nice and willing!!The hotel has a nice and professional person that works as a guide: Mr. Princie. He's a honest person and willing to bring you around. We spend two days with him and his friend Marcellin. We had an amazing experience with then!!!
