The name derives from the Spanish spelling of the Ventureño phrase wene me, meaning "Resting Place". Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo explored this area and the adjacent Channel Islands in October 1542. The town's name was officially changed to Port Hueneme in 1939 and was incorporated March 24, 1948.

We stayed across the street and the front desk suggested Dan's.It's a very odd setup occupying 3 different storefronts. A somewhat grumpy man took our order. Medium pizza small salad 2 small sodas and pitcher of beer $50. Yikes.The good:The kids loved the coke freestyle machine.The pitcher of beer was huge. I gave half to another partyThe salad bar was small, but freshThe bad$20 for a medium pizza is crazy. Especially for a so-so pizza. Sausage topping was possibly not actually meat. Pepperoni and salami were good. Mushroom and green peppers were dried out/burnt.The seating is odd. And not terribly comfy Kids running wild (not the staff's fault)Karaoke in the back room could have been fun, but too loud and poorly engineered for the space.Bottom line is $20 for a so so medium pizza is out of line. Papa John's is a better choice.

I get steak or shrimp. Sometimes i get the quacamole or pico de gallo. It is all delish and the value is great too. You can eat on the water across the street.

First time checking out this burger joint, and lemme say, burger quality on par with those âgastropubâ burger places. Get the Char-double with cheese and enjoy. The other treat was the two coolers of aqua frescas, one of which was a blueberry citrus mint... whoa!! Overall great burger investment!
