brilliant warm welcome, staff made us try cocktails or wines we didn't know about. The wine is very good and the ham tapas outstanding and really cheap. again a very friendly staffThanks for your visit

Beautiful big restaurant. Lovely decor, well laid tables. We had the menu of the day at â¬15. What let it down was poor service. We had to ask waitress what the menu was besides paella was all she offered us verbally. Eventually she told us we could also have chops or fish instead. Also had to ask for bread, aioli, tomato. If no written menu is available ok, but please then give people all the choices available. Starters were small mixed salad not enough for 4, calamares and cheese with white sausage. We had seafood paella which was average. Others had lamb chops which weren't originally offered. Won't rush back.

Went there for a snack, had sangria and several tapas. The service was ok, but as we having been living in Alicante for a week and trying other places, the good seemed mediocre. The tortilla did seem not fresh and heated, while the tomatoes coming on guacamole patatas were too old. We have read your words quite surprised. Because everything we serve is fresh, bought daily at local stores and Mercado Principal de Alicante. As you can check on all our Internet pages.Those same days when you were other hundreds of customers asked for tortillas and tried the same tomatoes, and as you can see, all the reviews about them are excellent. Anyway, if ever we make a mistake in the kitchen, it will never be the fault of the products, since they are always fresh and of the highest quality. Nothing frozen or precooked.The only thing left to think about is that you may like other more exotic or haute cuisine elaborations. We respect it but it is not our cooking style.Anyway you can call us by phone if you want or write an email. It would be great. We will be happy to share all the details with you.Regards,

We had a market menu and it was absoultely delicious, with a lot of different and exciting tastes and everything was delicately presented. This is perfection and well worth every penny. Classical surroundings in spacious rooms, I just loved it.

My husband had been here previous on a business trip, and he thought it would be nice to come back here when I was with him on a second business trip to Alicante. Not too far from our hotel. Lovely food, we opted for several tapas plates which were all delicious, and highly recommended. Service was excellent, but we were glad we had booked a table, because it was busy on the day we dined there. Would definitely go back here again!

The menu del dia is good value at â¬9.50. For starters there was a salad, followed by a choice of pasta, gazpacho, rice and some other dishes, followed by a choice of beef, monkfish, and other dishes. Ended up with homemade cake doused in a caramel sauce, all very enjoyable. On a 2nd occasion I tried a calimare sandwich, which was a massive portion and really enjoyable. The seafood was very fresh.The cafe is popular with locals and provides an authentic Spanish experience. I did see an English breakfast on offer too. Our waitress was very nice and welcomed us back on our 2nd visit, which was very nice. Her English is good and she accepted my attempts at Spanish with good grace.When we left a tip, all the staff thanked us with a lusty roar of appreciation. The cafe has air con, which is an added attraction.

Wow.....what an amazing experience we had here for our valentines weekend. We opted for the klandestino XL menu and it was just sensational. The service was first class and the waiters really explain to you in detail how to correctly eat each course. The chef Susi DÃaz is one clever lady creating exquisite plates of food. Its a very special place and deserves it Michelin Star. A great place to celebrate a special occasion or if you are a food lover this is a place that you must put on your culinary list. Simply sensational.

The food, atmosphere and staff are so good that I came back again. What struck me when I first visited is the ambience and especially the court garden which is thoughtfully and beautifully designed Superior ingredients and a modern Spanish fusion makes that place a must visit for first timers and a true staple for regulars Thank you Tarek, opinión like this motÃvate us to improve every Day . Very enjoyable Saturday lunch with family. Personal service with the chef (owner) and charming waitress explaining what was on offer. As a bread enthusiast the servicio pan, being chunky bread with alioli and tomato was lovely. The following tomate con salazones (dried salty tuna) unusual and enjoyable. As for my "sandwich of pork" (bocata de magro con tomato), this stew was exquisitely cooked. Personally I would have preferred a few green beans or some cous cous or arroz with it rather than more bread. Others had fish dishes which were not to my taste.We opted for sharing the surprise dessert (Corte Alicantino) whereupon the chef brought a plate of ice cream on a brioche type bun and promptly set alight to the top half! Quite a performance.The restaurant is in a basement down a flight of stairs. The walls are adorned with customer comments - you are invited to add your own. A fun meal which takes time as a small staff and tiny kitchen. So do choose a day when you are at your leisure and can enjoy a slow paced meal.Thanks somuch for your comment.We celebrate you enjoyed the Sotaterra experience. And we appreciate very much your suggestions.Just apologize again for the delay in the service, which is not usual at Sotaterra. As metioned our oven broke in the precise moment of serve you, so I had to "improvise" another technique to cook your dishes.Hope to see you soon.

We dined here on the 12th October after 22:30 for a pre birthday dinner.From the outside p the end of the bar, then see the restaurant proper which is small and really cosy!My Spanish friends ordered several of the dishes to share with a bottle of white! (They have a great selection ofwines) Although they don't have an English menu but friendly and helpful Naty (waitress) who run through the menu with my friends and also made recommedations. Jose (waiter) ensured that everything was on the table (ice bucket for the wine), cleared the table quickly after each course, placed new cutlery and we never had to ask!! So amazing!! The dishes were delicious and with good portions. Their own baked bread is to die for!! All that and finally to share a chocolate dessert. We enjoyed our meal in the cosy environment but what top it all was the EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE from Naty and Jose!! We have been to other five star restaurants but they cannot match the service in La Cata!! We were impressed!! Muchas gracias Naty y Jose!!!
