Time seems to stand still in Evora, a well-preserved medieval town that features protective walls, a 13th-century cathedral, several palaces,and a 1st-century Roman temple. No surprise that the town center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Even though it’s kind of creepy, don’t miss the Chapel of Bones, where the remains of nuns and monks are arranged in a haunting mosaic.

I am not usually enthusiastic about dining in the Hotel in which I am staying, but this was a very special occasion, and we were a short drive away from Evora central. The menu looked interesting and comprehensive. The setting was clean and modern with the signature cork panelled wall behind us. We were 4 and shared the Sabores de Alentejo, which was an elegantly presented starter of four tapas style dishes, warm and very fresh, and Peixinhos da Horta , Jaquinzinhos e camarao, which was a crisp tasty tempura style vegetable variety with 3 dipping sauces. For mains we shared 3, Cachaco de Porco Alentejo num risotto de cogumelos, (black pork neck with a mushroom risotto); the pato, (duck) perfectly cooked and tender; and the Malandrinho de tomato com polvinho, (tomato rice with boiled octopus and crispy black rice), which were all superbly presented and full of flavour. We had no room for the tempting desserts, as with a small hint at booking time the chef came up with a light delicious chocolate cake, complete with candle. It was a gourmet evening and thoroughly enjoyed by all, and the final bill was very reasonable for the quality of food and service. We will definitely have this restaurant marked for our next return to Evora.

This Bistro is very quaint.Walking distance from Square about 5/10 minutes.They currently offer a 3 Region Course meal paired with the regions wine.The owner Daniel served us and explained every entray and then introduced us to the Chef!They compliment each otherâs service.Everything timed to perfection.The dinner was outstanding. Do not miss having dinner at the restaurant. It states Bistro in their name however it is a wonderful quaint small restaurant.

So obviously trading on their Michelin star. There was no service to speak of apart from taking the order.. No follow up from the waiters, did we like it, was all OK,!!! AND a lot of money for such tiny portions. 20 euro for 4 small scallops and some cauliflower purée - total rip off!Hello Mr Jackson,Thank you so much for your visit and comment. First of all we don't have any Michelin Star, we have a special recomendation called Bib Gourmand, but because the stars are more popular, people wrongly say that we(as another restaurants) have a Star.Sorry for the not meeting your expectations.We hope will be better next time!Best Regards,

I don't mind paying good money for good food, but when the menu is so expensive, comparing to much better places in Portugal, it is sad.I ordered the goat cheese salad, which was a medium size salad, some lettuce, tomatoes, nice cheese, with VERY sweet sauce and no balance of flavors at all. Nothing delicate, just overpowering tastes. I guess the dish was supposed to be sophisticated. It really wasn't. Like a still in school chef. 9 Euro for that salad!!! Then came a pasta dish with sauted vegetables and mushrooms. Almost no flavor and no depth to this anemic dish. It is so easy to make a good dish with such fresh ingredients. It feels like this restaurant just ignores a growing group of vegetarian and vegan costumers, who want to eat a proper fine dinner,with some innovative touch and depth and creativity. To pay 9 Euros for very simple salad with very bad dressing, and 14 (!!!) Euro for a SMALL portion of average pasta, you can easily make better at home... That is just an insult for costumers. One of the worst places I ate in Portugal. No value for a lot of money.

Every dish is wonderful and extremely well priced. We loved it so much we went back again 3 days later. You will experience flavours you have never had before. Iâm not a foodie but this stuff is good. $5-8 euros for most of the share plates. 3 dishes and a bottle of wine about $40 euros. Very reasonable. This guy should be on one of those Master Chef shows. Heâs a genius with food.
