Reviews on Barbecue food in Laredo, Texas, United States. Located on the border between Mexico and the U.S., on U.S. I-35 and Mexican Federal Highway 85, Laredo is America's largest inland port and one of the oldest border crossing points. Once capital of the briefly held independent Republic of the Rio Grande, the city has survived a long history of conflict and friendship between the U.S. and Mexico. Its legacy is a rich community boasting unique shopping, lively entertainment and festivals, including the month-long Washington's Birthday Celebration.

We were very close to visit some kind of chicken place before we found Rudys, we didn´t ask for a recommendation or even search on the web but I was fancy a cold beer and my instinct drove to the parking of Rudys. If you visit Laredo you MUST go to this place. The service of the staff was great. There are big buckets of ice full of cold beers and they are perfect on the heat of Laredo. It was our first time so we received an explanation of how it works and even got some testers of the main meat options. My 2 years old baby loved, I mean, LOVED the turkey. So we got turkey, sweet corn cream and some bread slices. After our first visit we got back 2 times more. The only reason I don’t give the five stars is because of the “one time use” products they have all around like cutlery, glasses, containers, etc. I know this is the kind of business but our present it´s showing and demanding to do the things on a different way. Wherever you find a “Rudy´s” restaurant please make sure to stop by and enjoy a great Texas meal with a cold beer. (Les doy una mención especial por el staff que brinda atención en español para los extranjeros).

Briskets and Beer Smokehouse

I stopped in last week with my brother in law for lunch. The place is very small and off the beaten path, so when we arrived I wasn't sure what to expect. The service was fast and friendly. The food was amazing! I had a beer along with a beef brisket sandwich. I also had a jalapeno filled with brisket and wrapped in bacon. You have to try to jalapeno, the flavor was unbelievable!!! I will definitely be back here to eat again on my next visit to Laredo.

I went here based on a reccomednation with co-workers for lunch. It is definitely a locally known place as everybody, know everybody inside. I ordered the chopped brisket sandwich and it was plentiful and the bunn was really good. The brisket seemed a little dry compared to normal. The BBQ sauce choices are super. I tried the original and spicy. Let's say, the spicy has a real kick to it. The creamed corn was good, but I was disappointed with the cole slaw, I was hoping it was homemade, but it tasted more like pre-packaged.

I was visiting Laredo for the first time in almost 20 years and went to TKO on the advice of a young man who I met in the company of who I assumed was his dad. They were "gringos" too and so I felt inclined to believe that they understood what I was looking for when I described my deisires to them.TKO on Shiloh is only a few minutes from Mall Del Norte and occupies a corner location with ample parking along a moderately busy street which is a mixture of medium income housing and retail locations. You never know what you'll find when entering a place for the first time. That is especially true when in cross cultural locations like Laredo and other towns scattered along the border.TKO was a good experience. It was friendly and had natural and artificial lighting that was cheerful. The wait staff were welcoming and warm and attentive. Cecelia, my bartender, was a joy to chat with and very helpful with locations of places that I inquired about. The beer was cold and the baby back ribs and sides were very good. I met some friendly characters who were locals and the overall atmoshere was very pleasing and the place was clean and well maintained. I would definitely go back for another visit and suggest it to anyone who may be in the area.
